This is just a guess

I'm using DX4WIN version 9.09. When I type F8 and then type AF012 into the
IOTA field, it also automatically fills in the IOTA Island as "Juan de Nova".
It's possible that when you search, your FR/J QSOs either have nothing, or
something other than "Juan de Nova" in the IOTA Island field.

If I were you, I would use F8 search and put FR/J in the Prefix field instead.
What is found in the IOTA and IOTA Island fields for each of those QSOs? I
would set each QSO to the correct IOTA and Island, saving the changes of course.

Now does searching for AF012 work?

[Dx4win] IOTA F8 search inconsistense

2023-07-03 Thread henrikweiss2
Hi,

It occurred to me that I had to manually submit an IOTA QSO (AF012) to the
IOTA award program.

By using F8 search function and just entering AF012, results come up with no
qso match.

This is incorrect, as I have QSOs if I search for the DXCC country FT/J -
and they show as AF012.

Is this a bug?

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA Logging Question

2022-11-08 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Joe OZ0J got it correct. When logged into the IOTA World website (
https://www.iota-world.org/ ), you can submit confirmations from
either LoTW or Club log to your IOTA account. You still need to apply
to have those confirmations added to your total.

You can also download all your IOTA credits, and import them into
DX4WIN for the purpose of setting the IOTA Award Flag to Checked.
It's at the bottom of the QSL menu, "Use IOTA File for Awards".

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA Logging Question

2022-11-08 Thread OZ0J / 5Q2T - Joe
Hi

On https://www.iota-world.org (My IOTA) you can add QSOs from LoTW, so LoTW is
accepted by IOTA. QSOs from Clublog is also accepted by the IOTA program, if
both stations from the QSO must have the same QSO in a Clublog account.

Paper IOTA QSL must sometimes be controlled by an IOTA card checker (the same
way as the DXCC card checker).

Use https://www.iota-world.org to see the full IOTA QSOs and QSLs. See the
submenu to "My IOTA".

And you can use https://hamalert.org/about to get spots for new IOTA
references.

As far as I can see, DX4WIN does not import the IOTA reference form LoTW. Some
of the IOTA references will come in the updates from AD1C, Jim.

If you are not an IOTA chaser, you can skip reading this...

Recently Cezar VE3LYC operated from Tatakoto as TX0T which was then
qualified as IOTA OC-298. There were several past operations from
this atoll. These will now also count as IOTA OC-298 instead of IOTA
OC-066.
If you have received credit for IOTA OC-066 for one of these past
operations, you will lose that credit. You will need to find another
QSO with IOTA OC-066 to submit for IOTA credit.

With the help of DX spots and DL6KVA, I have identified the following
past operations from Tatakoto Atoll. The information on the IOTA
World web site does not include dates but does include callsigns:

https://www.iota-world.org/islands-on-the-air/iota-groups-islands/grou
p/1175.html

The next country file will have the following callsigns associated
with the new IOTA (they are listed chronologically):

FO0CLA 2000-04-20,2000-05-23
FO0CLA 2000-06-27,2000-08-01
FO5RH2004-07-20,2004-07-21
FO5RH2005-09-18,2005-09-27
FO5RH2008-05-14,
TX5TES 2010-07-11,2010-07-25
FO8AA/P 2015-03-01,2015-04-07
TX0T 2020-10-30,2020-11-05

Note that FO0CLA (who later became FO5RH) operated from many other
islands in French Polynesia starting in mid-1999, so the start and end
dates are important. I have done my best to determine the correct
dates. There may have been other operations from Tatakoto, other than
the dates given above. If you have a QSL from such an operation,
please let me know and I will make the necessary changes to the
country file.

When the next country file is released later this week, you can use
Multiple QSO Operations | Check IOTA to determine which QSOs you may
need to change.

Note that FO0CLA (who later became FO5RH) operated from many other islands
in French Polynesia starting in mid-1999, so the start and end dates are
important. I have done my best to determine the correct dates. There may
have been other operations from Tatakoto, other than the dates given
above. If you have a QSL from such an operation, please let me know and I
will make the necessary changes to the country file.

When the next country file is released later this week, you can use
Multiple QSO Operations | Check IOTA to determine which QSOs you may need
to change.

Bud,

You don't use IOTA CSV file from DX4WIN. I have just tried
https://hamalert.org/ and here it is how it works:

1) create an account at https://www.iota-world.org
2) go to "My IOTA" and add your worked/confirmed IOTAs. You can get many
IOTAs if you have a https://clublog.org account- You need an ADIF file from
DX4WIN (File -> Import/Export -> Export -> ADIF)
3) In HamAlert account connect Clublog to HamAlert via a Clublog Application
Key. See HELP in HamAlert how to do that
4) After you have added all your worked/confirmed IOTAs, go to
https://www.iota-world.org -> MY IOTA and choose "Download QSOs". Save the
file
5) In HamAlert choose Trigger -> IOTA and HERE you upload the CSV downloaded
in #4 above

I have just uploaded my IOTA QSOs and the worked are not marked in the
HamAlert trigger.

I have no idea what format HamAlert expects, but you can create a .CSV
file listing your needed IOTA:

>From the Reports menu item, choose IOTA as the Award, and "Needed
Listing" as the Report/Action. After clicking OK, right-click on the
"IOTA Needed Listing" window and choose "Write to File". You'll have
to open the resulting CSV file in a program like Microsoft Excel and
manipulate the data into the format that HamAlert expects.

[Dx4win] IOTA Checkin DX4WIN 9.01

2017-10-20 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Paul has added a feature to 9.01 to check the IOTA field for all QSOs.
It does a few things:

1. Assigns the appropriate IOTA for QSOs made with a DXCC entity that
is fully contained in a single IOTA group, like Barbados, 8P (IOTA
NA021)

2. Assigns the IOTA Island for any IOTA that has only one island,
like Barbados, 8P (NA021). Note that this will also occur when
importing a log from another program.

3. Checks that the DXCC entity for the QSO is appropriate for the
IOTA assigned. For example, NA021 (Barbados) is not a value IOTA for
a QSO with Puerto Rico, KP4. Note that for USA IOTA, DX4WIN also
checks that the STATE is valid for that IOTA. For example, NA065 is a
valid IOTA for WA, but not for FL.

The IOTA check will not modify any IOTA fields that are already set.
Instead, DX4WIN will report any errors in your log (see below).

You can run the check as follows:

QSO | Multiple QSO Operations | Check IOTAs

You will get a prompt like the following:

Checking IOTA and Island for 153811 QSOs
Are you sure

Click Yes and run the check. Then you may see a window like the following:

80 IOTAs were set
4096 IOTA Islands were set
14 Invalid IOTAs were reported
No Invalid Islands were reported
Look for IOTAMSG: in the QSO notes

Here is an example:

OE4VIE/ANT in Austria, OE
IOTA = AN016, Antarctica
IOTAMSG: Bad IOTA

At one point, the DX4WIN country file thought that OE4VIE was in
Antarctica due to the /ANT at the end. However, he was just in
Austria. At the time, I must have added the AN016 IOTA. Now the IOTA
checker reports that this is in error.

Here is another example:

K3AEB in PA (Pennsylvania)
IOTA = NA069
IOTAMSG: Bad IOTA

This is a bad IOTA. Pennsylvania does not have any IOTA groups. What
appears to have happened here is that I worked K3AEB in December 1997
when he was on Sanibel Island, FL. When I worked him again during the
PA QSO party in October 2000, DX4WIN auto-populated the IOTA field
from the previous QSO. That of course was not correct for this case,
and I did not notice it at the time of the 2000 QSO.

The IOTA prefix/state database was generated by my software, but I
have had to make some tweaks by hand. For example, EU016, EU090,
EU110 and EU136 were in YU, Yugoslavia before Croatia became a
separate DXCC entity. OC148 was previously in the deleted DXCC entity
of Portuguese Timor, but is now part of the Timor-Leste DXCC entity.
The RSGB IOTA database only has the current DXCC entity for each IOTA,
so I had to add the old prefixes by hand.

If you find any IOTAMSG that you believe are incorrect, please send me:

1. Full callsign
2. IOTA you think it should be
3. DXCC entity (Prefix) that your log says for that QSO
4. If USA, the State that your log says for that QSO

I'll make the necessary changes in the next release of the IOTA mapping file.

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA

2015-07-28 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Alan,

I think there are several different issues here:

I just completed the IOTA contest last weekend and it made me think of
tracking my IOTA credits in DX4WIN. I presently have 394 IOTA's confirmed.
(They did a great job of card checking at Visalia last April). NONE of these
IOTA's show confirmed in the AWARDS section of my DX4WIN log window.

What do you mean by the AWARDS section of my DX4WIN log window? Do
you mean the award flags at the bottom of the QSO (log entry) window?
Those flags will get set if you peform a DX4WIN submission for the
IOTA award. When your application is returned, you can then change the
IOTA flag(s) from Submitted to Checked (via the Report menu)

Something I don't understand that I am sure I am missing is how to enter my
IOTA data from the IOTA website into DX4WIN. I do not see any ADIF file
download to output to DX4WIN. They do provide a Excel CSV file but I don't
know how to download it into DX4WIN.

There is no way to do so. Either do the IOTA submission through
DX4WIN (see above), or manipulate the award flags by hand.

In reviewing the app note, I also decided it would be a good thing to enter
all my DXCC credits to DX4WIN. I come under the category you mentioned
under: If you already have ARRL DXCC credits, but none of them are tracked
in DX4WIN, then start here instead I already have DXCC Award credits, but
have never tracked them in DX4WIN. What do I do?

You want to use the Compare LoTW Credits to DX4WIN program
(something like that) found at http://dx4win.ad1c.us/ (I can not get
to this site from work). Then you can figure out how to resolve the
differences. It's all described on that page.

What is the DXCC QSL Download file on the LOTW webpage? Mine has the heading
 of:
ARRL Logbook of the World DXCC QSL Card Report

Log into ARRL LoTW site.
Click on Awards box near the top.
Click on Select DXCC Award Account on the left.
Click on DXCC QSL Download on the left to generate the ADIF file you
showed in your message.

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA

2015-07-27 Thread Alan Zack
Hello Jim,

I remember seeing this last January and saved it hoping to be able to use
the info someday. The someday is now.

I have
never tracked my IOTA's in DX4WIN other than typing in the IOTA number and
IOTA name into appropriate boxes when I log an IOTA contact. But I do
generate ADIF's files from DX4WIN to submit to IOTA.

As per your instructions below to Mike, R3BM, I went to your app notes.

Something I don't understand that I am sure I am missing is how to enter my
IOTA data from the IOTA website into DX4WIN. I do not see any ADIF file
download to output to DX4WIN. They do provide a Excel CSV file but I don't
know how to download it into DX4WIN.

As you pointed out, I can
list all my DXCC credits from the ARRL LOTW webpage to manually update the
DX4Win log AWARDS window. One thing I learned in reading your app notes is
that I don't have to make notations for all my 42,697 QSO's in DX4WIN. If I
understand your example using EA correctly, if my DXCC records show I have
DXCC credit for EA1ABC on 20 mtrs SSB then ALL my EA 20 mtr SSB QSO's will
be flagged as CHECKED. Is that correct?

However, I have 340 countries confirmed. That is a lot of typing and as you
stated prone to mistakes, which I am good at making.

What is the DXCC QSL Download file on the LOTW webpage? Mine has the heading
of:

This is just for the call K7ACZ. I also have records for the call K6ACZ when
I lived in CA but my DXCC credits are combined since K6ACZ and K7ACZ are
both USA calls.

I might be making too big of a deal of this. I was afraid of trying to send
my QSO info to ClubLog and the QRZ.COM logbook and then discovered I can
just use the same ADIF file I send to LOTW to ClubLog, QRZ.COM logbook and
eQSL. So now every time I send an ADIF file from DX4WIN to LOTW I also send
it to these other entries.

Sorry for all the questions. I am an electronics person (BSEE). I can build
and fix radios, antennas, etc, BUT computers are not my forte.

Take your time (if you have time) to answer. Many questions here. I really
appreciate all your help over the years. Missed you at Visalia.

Mike, it works very similar to DXCC, using the Award Flags. Read this

Where it says DXCC, think of IOTA instead.

[Dx4win] IOTA islands list updated

2012-06-11 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
The RSGB has updated the IOTA islands list (fulllist.xml). If you run
the DX4WIN Data Updater, you should get the new version:

*** FULLLIST.XML was updated on Sun Jun 10 12:30:00 2012

p.s. if you wait until Tuesday, I should have the LoTW/eQSL membership
list updated, as well as the custom award database.

The site is fixed, you can verify this by going to this URL:

If you made any changes to the DX4WIN Data Updater configuration file
(or shortcut) to disable IOTA updates, you can enable them again. If
you are not sure whether you have the latest fulllist.xml file, remove
the one from the UPDATE directory, then run the Updater again.

[Dx4win] IOTA Database

2012-03-05 Thread Dick Flanagan
I don't participate in the IOTA program, but I try to keep my log
current with IOTA entries in case I am ever so inclined.

I was logging a recent BURO QSL that specified AS117 and noted what
appeared to be corrupt IOTA Island names. I counted roughly 150 names
with many duplications. Do I have a corrupt IOTA file or is there a
more widespread problem with AS117?

What you see matches what's on the IOTA web site:

http://www.rsgbiota.org/info/search.php?q=AS117

So there appears to be nothing wrong. The names overlap, but they are
from different prefectures. It does seem that the RSGB could do
something a little better with this one.

[Dx4win] IOTA listing question

2012-01-29 Thread Garry Shapiro
I am currently preparing my first submission for IOTA. In attempting to
justify the RSGB online listing of my qualifying QSO's against DX4WIN's
listing, I observe that AF055, Penguin Islands, which has been long
deleted and is annotated as such in the DX4WIN IOTA Report, is
nonetheless counted in that report and in the summary.

Is there a way to prevent DX4WIN from counting deleted island groups,
other than to manually remove the IOTA designation from each QSO
currently so labeled in the log?

Re: [Dx4win] IOTA

2011-12-20 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I hope it's OK that I speak for Garry here.

He has two DX4WIN installations, an older version and 8.05. After
installing 8.05, he ran the Data Updater that was in his old version's
directory, expecting it to update 8.05 also (i.e. update all installed
versions). It did (does) not. He manually copied the data files from
his old (up-to-date) installation to his 8.05 installation and all was
well again.

This prompted me to add the following note to the DX4WIN Data Updater
documentation, in the installation section:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/updater/index.html#install

NOTE: If you have multiple (different) versions of DX4WIN installed
on your computer, and you want to keep each of them up-to-date, you
must save the DX4WUPD.EXE file in each DX4WIN directory that has a
DX4WIN.EXE file. For example, if you have versions 7.07, 8.01 and 8.05
installed, you will have to save DX4WIN.EXE into the dx4w705, dx4801
and dx4w805 directories. To update a particular version of DX4WIN, you
must run the Updater Program that is saved in that version's
directory.

It seemed obvious to me that you would have to install the updater
into each copy of DX4WIN you have installed, but it apparently wasn't
obvious to everyone, so I added the note.

[Dx4win] IOTA report

This is my day for questions. Hope I can get by with two today.

In a previous version of DX4win I know that I used to get an IOTA report
option that would display ( Print) a list of confirmed or worked IOTAs with
the station call, band, etc. If I had the IOTA worked to multiple calls it
would just pick only one to call to display. I guess it might have picked the
first time it was worked. Am I dreaming? If not how can that be done with the
current version?

Or do as Jim Said, but Select the Submission report from the drop down list
- That shows all entities confirmed, that count towards your award AND
moves them in your log to submitted !!

All you then need to do is copy that detail onto the IOTA web site
submission, dig your cards out, and away you go !

Hi Dwane,

The IOTA group list (reference numbers) is included in the country
file (DX4WIN.CTY)

The Islands list (fulllist.xml) must be downloaded from the RSGB web
site. In Help | Contents, click on the Index tab and search for IOTA.
Under that heading you'll find an entry about the fulllist download.

Dwayne perhaps the step in addition to what Jim has pointed out is when you
have clicked on the link in the help file and your browser has opened up on
the RSGB fulllist.xml page you then need to do a save as in the browser,
navigate it to the DX4w###/save folder, click save and it should be done. Re
start DX4WIN and it should work. Note you need to fill the IOTA box with a
reference number, e.g. (SA097) before you will get a listing in the IOTA
Island box.

[Dx4win] IOTA Islands List

2009-12-15 Thread Alan Zack
Just updated from 8.02 to 8.03 and wanted to do some more upgrades at the same
time such as new CTY, AWD, TCP, etc files from AD1C's websites.

One thing I wanted to do was to download the IOTA Islands List from the RSGB. I
researched all the help files and got to the point of going to:
http://www.rsgbiota.org/xml/fulllist.xml
But once getting to this website I found a very large file with a lot of
machine language and no visible way of downloading it the way that you can
download AD1C's CTY, AWD, TCP, etc files.

Has anyone downloaded this RSGB IOTA Islands List and if so how did you do it.

2009-11-08 Thread Mike Kirchoff
I have apparently done something stupid and I cannot seem to find the fix.
I mistakenly deleted the IOTA window and I cannot get it back. Surely it is
in there somewhere! I have numerous previous versions of DX4WIN on older
computers if that will help. TNX in advance for the help.

Is it possible to make one logbook window type the default so it is not
necessary to reset it every time DX4WIN is opened?

My previous answer didn´t relate to your question

So this is how it works

Open the included helpfile.pdf in C:\DX4W801\DOCS
Go to page 146 or via notes to Files not included with .
Or this link http://www.rsgbiota.org/xml/fullist.xml
When you click on it your browser should open and populate
The window , wait a few seconds until all has arrived
Now in your browser go to file and do SAVE AS
Only change path to C:\DX4W801\SAVE

That’s it

I've found that EU005 is GB Main Island only but the list let me see
all UK islands.
Can it be a bug?

Jim Reisert AD1C ha scritto:
If you're using Firefox, use File | Save Page As...

I can't speak for Safari, Opera or Chrome.

Note that this is NOT a database that maps callsigns to IOTA! It's a
database that lists IOTA island names for each IOTA Group. For example,
IOTA EU003 consists of these islands:

Formigas islands
Santa Maria
Sao Miguel

When you go to a QSO where the IOTA is EU003, you can further select one
of those three island names in the IOTA Island field.

An IOTA application must include both the IOTA reference (group) number,
as well as the actual island name (from the QSL card). QSOs made after
1 January 2001 *must* have the Island Name (i.e. Sao Miguel) PRINTED
(not hand-written) on the QSL card.

Hi Leo,

I think the feature you are asking for is to ignore LoTW confirmations, EXCEPT
for the DXCC and WAS awards.

The problem with that request is that the DX4WIN program will have to be
updated every time a new award program is added to LoTW.

I think the method that Kostas suggested is the best for now.

2005-10-18 Thread Tony Lord

Dear Jim and others,

Many thanks for your replies. Mailed (M) and confirmed (C) is clear. When
you say submitted (S), do u mean I the report infers that I have actually
submitted entries for an IOTA award (within DX4WIN I mean)?? If this is the
case, then I have a problem because I have not submitted any entries to IOTA
for an award. Looking at the 165 worked islands on my report some 32 are
marked status S. Any thoughts??

You may have either done an IOTA submission in the program (Reports

[Dx4win] IOTA database uptodate.

2005-09-22 Thread Stefano Cipriani
If You are interested to have an updated copy of my IOTA database, You can
download it at this hidden address:
http://www.qsl.net/i0mwi/mwifiles/dx4win/IOTA1071.zip
You can unzip the file directly into a directory on your hard disk.
Then import the file IOTA1071.TXT, deleting the old data.
- Many geografical coordinates are updated from the IOTA web page.
- Prefixes of the entities are added at the islands names to prevent any
possible reference number mistake.
I hope You'll find it helpful.

It's part of the DX4WIN.CTY file

You can export it by Files - Databases - IOTA - Write to File

Subject: [Dx4win] RTTY as PACK, and Buxkmaster (again)
Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Two questions that I know I have seen answered, but cannot find them in
archives or the Help files. You help is greatly appreciated:

1. Just got on with RTTY tonight and found that even tho I merged my
6.04 settings, a number of them don't make it across to 7.01. For
example, where is the setting that tells DX4WIN that my Orion running in
FSK mode is RTTY, not PACTOR?? I had to set this once in 6.03 or 6.04,
but now I can't find the setting in the .INI file, the Preferences, or
??? Help!

2. Setting the directory for Buckmaster (I asked this a few weeks ago,
but now can't find the answer again) . . . I have it set to C:\ham0 but
no dice. I keep getting the Buckmaster Error: -2 I tried C:\ham0\
also, but neither works. (Tried hamO and ham0, no joy on either.)

Thanks in advance. These should not be so hard to find, but then again,
the best place to hide something from me is right in front of my eyes!

In answer to the first question I asked earlier, in order to get
Buckmaster callbook data to work correctly in DX4WIN, you MUST set the
directory (Preferences - Ext Data) as exactly: c\:

Do not use the actual directory name as it will fail. This is different
from the RAC where you actually put the directory path in the field.
Steve had answered my question the last time, so now it's on the
reflector in case someone else has the same problem.

[Dx4win] IOTA Update ??

Subject: [Dx4win] ICOM IC-7800
Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Help! I am new to this reflector and cannot find any reference to this
problem in the archives.

I have interfaced DX4WIN, Ver 6.03, with the ICOM IC-7800

It reads and writes frequencies, sets spot frequencies and modes, etc.
correctly to the MAIN VFO just fine

It sets the SPLIT function ON when the spot indicates split operation, or
if SPLIT is already set and the
spot has no split indicated, turns split off if it was already on.

Problem is that SUB VFO frequency and mode are NOT set. For example if the
spot indicates split, and shows the split
frequency, the split function is turned on but the frequency and mode of
the SUB VFO is not changed.

Should I expect the frequency and mode to change in the SUB vfo? If so,
anyone know how to make it happen?

( Sure gotta pay attention to that, embarrasing to make calls on the wrong
freq, band, etc, HI )

Thanks for help

Les, the current country file can be found on my web site. It contains the
latest IOTA data *except* for AS-170 - that's coming in Release 9 (in
progress):

  http://www.ad1c.com/dx4win/

The database is compatible with DX4WIN going back to version 4.07. Note DX4WIN
version 6.03 shipped with Release 7, and Release 8 was published a few weeks
later. The last IOTA update was in Release 6 (current to 1 May 2004).

Release 9 is still at least a week away. It's waiting for the QSL manager
database cleanup (I'm up to the T's now). There are also about a dozen
callsign mappings to add. The Release 9 revision history is mostly current, so
you can see the changes that are coming.

[Dx4win] IOTA database update

2004-04-28 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I have updated the IOTA database. You can download it from:

   http://www.ad1c.com/dx4win/iota.txt

To update your database, go to File - Databases - IOTA. Then File -
Import IOTA Data. Give the path to the downloaded file, and when prompted,
delete existing IOTA information. Then finally, File - Save Changes and Exit.

These are the most current reference numbers:

 AF096
 AN018
 AS169
 EU188
 NA226
 OC266
 SA093

This will be part of the database when Paul releases DX4WIN 6.03
