I still do not use VE in my training (despite having 200+ students working on
three campuses) because there are too many things it cannot do. I dont have
time to constantly play with it to see if it is now good enough to use. I will
likely not use it until it is accepted by the wider community.
Ive worked for some time here in Mexico with Wikipedia, doing everything from
writing articles in English, to translation, to photography and subtitling
projects in Commons.

Internet is "replacing teachers". However, it is really not doing anything
different than books, video and audio; none of which has replaced teachers.
There is a social component to education, the interaction with those w

My 2 cents
I dont understand why we have to have an extension for every single project. It
would make sense if we assume that ed programs only work in one language and
this tool had some effect on the content of the project. We have worked in
multiple languages, mostly Spanish followed by
If we only think about WEP as writing a Wikipedia article as a class
assignment, then yes, the overriding qualification is writing ability... same
as for any other volunteer doing that work.
Fortunately, there are other ways to participate... just like any other
Wikimedian.
