I'm nearing the end of construction for my KAT2. I'm at the step on page 12
of the KAT2 rev. D manual that says:
Secure the L-C board to the Control board standoffs using two 4-40 screws
and two #4 split lock washers. These lock washers go between the standoffs
and the PC board, not between the

Roger,
The bottom line is that you have to end up with one lockwasher between the
standoff and the board. It matters not which end of the standoff that
occurs on - the lockwasher adds a bit more length to the standoff and it is
sometimes needed to assure adequate clearance for the board above
Hi
Elecraft uses the convention that pin one of most components has a round pad
and all other pads are rectangular. The round pad at pin one can be easily
mistaken for a board feed through and can be missed when soldering. I have
made this error several times on the 15 K2's I have built. I now
Have relocated left vise behind. Looking for a good source for

My K2, which is newly built but was working fine ... spontaneously has
started giving me a HI CUR reading even whenever I hit the TUNE button,
even when going into a dummy load Regardless of the setting of the
power output control ... ( the CAL CUR limit is set to 3.5). any
advice as to
This is NOT a troll. I'd like some feedback on
groupmembers' satisfaction with the K2/100 on
SSB, not for contesting but for DX and
ragchewing. I like using my K2 for QRP CW work,
but would like to start working SSB with a good
quality audio signal. I'm trying to decide
whether to go
Hey, thanks. I think for sure I need to get my K2
properly aligned using spectogram. I have the
DSP module installed and, while it works well for
me on CW, it doesn't seem to be as
helpful/effective on SSB. When I built the K2
and the DSP unit, I just followed the basic
alignment
Well, there's the rub. I've only been able to use
a random wire tossed up in a palm tree at my
house; CCRs (building covenants) you know.
What I'm planning on doing is getting a Buddipole
that I can quickly erect and take down when I
want to operate. If I set it up on the balcony of

FWIW I have posted page-by-page photos of the construction of my K2 at

Hi,
I will be popping over to Norfolk Island for just a week, arriving on
2nd Nov, and I will be taking the K1 and dipoles for 80 and 40m with me.
Not sure of the setup where we are staying at this stage, but if it is
unsuitable I will use the car's cigarette lighter for power and operate
