It would be very nice if these could be fitted inside the K3, or modify the
existing K3 receive filters to provide similar results.

I think you have more pins connected that Elecraft does not connect with their

Running 4.58 and mine does the same. I set the service monitor down to

peak-hold, and put it back.

How long does it take to install the K3 DVK in a K3 with two receivers? And
is there anything I should make sure I do or don't do during the install?

Less than an hour, most of which is spent removing and reinstalling
the front panel - the KDVR3 installs on the back of the front panel,
so the sub-RX is not really relevant (the AUX DSP board doesn't need
to be removed). The instructions should be quite clear. Older K3's may
require some hardware
The pinout of the cable that should be used is in the manual. That pinout
illustrates the lines that should be connected and NO other lines other
than that which are displayed in the manual should be connected.

I have recently bought a previously owned K2/10 am thinking of upgrading
it to the 100 watt version. My question is:
Is there any reason or advantage to upgrade with the amplifier radio in
one unit or in the EC2 with the KAT100-2? I suppose it is a matter of how
it will be used but I guess
Hello Sidney,
I've had my K2 in both configurations. I started out with the amp
built into my K2 and after a few years separated them and placed the amp
and the antenna tuner into it's own enclosure. With the units separated

Nowadays the K2 stays at home. The KX3 goes portable.

The primary reason to put the amp in an EC2 enclosure is to preserve
portability of the K2/10. Since you already have a K1 and plan to get a
KX3, it would seem that your field operation bases are covered. Keep it
simple and put the amp inside the transceiver case to use as a base station
radio.

Sidney,
If you are considering going portable with the K2/10, then putting the
KPA100 and KAT100 in an EC2 enclosure is the way to go, you can
disconnect two cables and take the K2/10 on whatever excursion you desire.
But, if the K2 is to stay at the home station, put the KPA100 on the top
An easy way to remove SMT parts with a traditional iron is to use a
small piece of wire to create a solder bridge across both ends of the
part. This will conduct the heat to both pads and then you can just lift
the part off the board :). -kb7psg.

Bernie,
It is good to hear that you have found success.
As far as the filter alignment instability that you have alluded to, I
think that impression has other causes - lack of properly zero beating
for one.

I keep building and cluttering my station with YALBs (yet another little

I'm looking at the KAT500 and the amount of panel space it provides and

It would also fit nicely over the top of the K3 as the
