Your are pretty much stuck with the factory display. Take a look at what they do in the r75 group. It is a really neat look. Probably as close to a led display as you can get. It involves taking a piece of polarizing film and positioning it over the display until the numbers become clearly in focus

Jean, The LCD on the K2 is a custom design, and could only be changed by special order, which may cost more than the K2 itself. It is not a pixel type display. The LCD backlight might be found in a different color (not available from Elecraft). The LCD itself is translucent and does not have
