How can we as a group increase the results of the Sunday SSB net for those of
us who have KX3s running barefoot? Only 2 of the 34 checkins on Sunday were
KX3s.
Frustrated and disappointed … but I keep trying …

There are several other KX3 Yahoo groups whose many members probably don't
even know that there IS a Sunday Elecraft net.
That'd be my first suggestion.

I was recently able to check in with my KX-3 for the first time in a year.
All it took was driving from Florida to Montana with my Radio ;-) Makes

John,
What you ask is not possible on the reflector. It is either all or
nothing. Participants are asked to always put the type of Elecraft
equipment, the mail is about, in the subject line but unfortunately
frequently this is ignored.
I use an off-line reader (Thunderbird in my case) and
I'd like to repeat a feature request:
The option of NONE for CW KEY2.
This would allow use of a mono plug to send external CW. A few days ago I
went to drop my KX3 into the position I normally use with a rig that uses a
mono 1/4 key plug. Even with an adaptor to 1/8, it wouldn't work
Hi Jim !
It's generally accepted convention today that virtually
all key plugs/jacks are three-circuit ... tip, ring and
sleeve ... in both 1/8 and 1/4 diameters.
IMHO, modifying software to satisfy the wants of a few
of us isn't warranted. In your case, doing it right is just
a simple plug
Only a short while ago (the early 1950's) few Hams had mobile rigs.
Virtually everyone on the air was working from a fixed station.
One of the games mobile operators played was to drive over to another Ham's
QTH and shock him with a call from the curb in front of the house,
completely swamping
Get a 1/8 stereo name to 2 X 1/8 mono ( L/R) adapter and you're in business.
You can plug your key/bug into one jack and the computer in the other.
Much simpler than doing it in the radio, which would only provide one of the
options.

If I may make a suggestion that might make KX3 checkin easier. On
other nets that I often check into, the first stations invited to
checkin are portable, mobile, and low power stations. That gives
those stations a better chance of avoiding being covered up by
stronger stations.
This last Sunday, I think Netcontrol didn't come down anywhere near me. (The

Might I suggest (like I think was done in the past) that a few minutes (defined
clearly) are set aside for us QRP KX3 folks to check in?
I am temporarily located in Waikoloa, HI (BK29CW). I can hear the relay from
N6JW in Riverside, CA. and sometimes can directly hear NS7P from Elmira,
This is an excellent suggestion and requires minimal changes to the
existing procedures.

There are many very functional radios out there that use a mono key jack.
In my case, the IC-746.
Most keyers have their output as a mono RCA jack. The K1EL USB WinKey and
the W9XT Unified Microsystems XT-4 are two such examples. A readily

Hi,
Due to numerous requests for a Win4K3Suite for the Elecraft KX3 and some
independent testing that looks very encouraging, I have decided to provide
Win4K3 for the KX3.
All of the features of Win4K3Suite will be there with the exception of no P3
interface. It will support the KPA500 if you
