is always an except.

Use Hi Cut to set the upper end of the audio bandpass and Lo Cut to set

Hi Larry,
The XFIL control rotates through the roofing filters. When you

This is described on p5 of the Owner's Manual.

It sounds like the KAT500's re-tuning problem is pretty wide spread. I

My KAT 500 attemps to retune at times. This last firmware release seems to

Usually setting the tuner to manual after I retune helps from the retune

Doug,
Nice write up.
Other Readers,
I'd like to make a comment about the antenna as I know more than
just a little about the things. An off center fed, OCF, dipole is not a
magic antenna as some hams have come to believe. They are just a good
wire antenna that is fed in a way to make

I don't think anybody was questioning the fact that the OCF dipole
works. If you haven't read it, I encourage you to borrow or buy a

Mario,
I assume no voltage is equal to zero volts, which is a perfectly valid
voltage measurement. I know it is a subtle point, but such clarity is
important for successful troubleshooting.
A zero volts indication at the left end of R30 is an indication that the

Hi all,
If you're powering the KX3 and a KXPA100 from the same large 12-V battery, and

Ethan,
I can't agree with your last paragraph. The usual problem with RF
in the shack is traceable to a couple of factors. First, your shack is
right there under your antenna and the RF in the shack is direct
radiation from the antenna. However, that is not the problem in most cases.
Jamie,
If the KXFL3 module is installed correctly, the 1/2 inch long screw
should protrude through the KXFL3 board locking it in place. Make
certain the KXFL3 board is installed correctly into the header before
inserting the screw.

Once again you have pin pointed me to the right direction. C72 was the

capacitor and everything became normal. Don't know if we can attribute this

I forgot something. Be sure to measure the length of the screw. The screw
that was there should have been 1/4 inch long. The new one should be 1/2 inch

The screw does not engage the board it just gots through the hole to stop it

Hi everyone,
I have an Elecraft PR6 - 6 Metre Band Pre-Amp available for sale.
(As you all know, RRP is US$159.95 and the freight to Australia via USPS is
another US$51.00 on top of that!)
It is in excellent condition and is just 12 months old.
I'm selling it due to upgrading.
