Disconnecting is not a reliable way to protect your home and station from a lightning strike. A strike can induce high voltage into your home wiring without the antenna being connected and cause a lot of damage. There are many papers on lightning protection, proper single point grounding is a good

I recently received an email from "World Amateur Radio Contesting Association" informing me that my world ranking [in contests] had just increased 500 or so places. This sure sounds like a scam to me, but thought I'd check around before trashing it. Anyone know anything about this one? Thanks
