I'm pretty sure that I am measuring the ring to ground for ACC2. The amp is
not connected. Is there a menu setting I could have wrong? If not is the
keyline output transistor bad? How do I diagnose the problem in the KX3?

Steve,
Are you sure you're looking at the ACC2 ring contact?
Then yes, this should work. I had assumed it was producing a 1-Hz square wave.

Good Evening,
It was a great morning. Lots of sunshine with clear skies. The cool
weather keeps the fog in the valleys and the mountain tops clear. At
night the fog dims the lights from towns nearby and the stars are
bright. I took a walk to check on the trees. It has grown too cold for
I have tried the second quick tap. It worked with the old ant/coax but
offers no improvement now. Breaking out the VNA tomorrow.
Thank you to all who helped.

Hi, Wayne!
I'm very happy about the phase sync between the two rxs, that will be a lot
of fun!
FYI - The Bodnar GPS unit outputs a programmable output including 10 MHz at
various levels:
Low-jitter GPS-locked precision frequency reference
450 Hz to 800 MHz output
This device outputs two
Hi, I wonder if anyone can enlighten me on this...
A few days ago I came across a posting where someone said they were using their
'PLL VFO' aka their K2 as the substitute VFO (in absence of the xmtr having
one) or as a crystal substitute.
OK, how does he do that? Is he just running key-down
Thank you Dave for the explanation on the reflector. I know there are a lot

I want to say the K2 is not a fantastic radio. It is, except when tuning

I've built and operated three of them. Never heard the noise described.
Indeed, one of the features I like most - apart from the builds, which were
all great experiences - is the audio. My KX3 and K3+ are more capable
radios in numerous ways. But the K2s were all more comfortable to spend an

I can confirm that W8FGU has the "K2 T-R External Relay Driver Board Kit"

Steve,
Are you measuring with the amplifier connected? That could be a reason.
Put in a plug with nothing connected and remeasure. Be careful with
autoranging meters, they can fool you. Make certain you know what your
meter displays for infinite resistance - it should be the same as shown

Steve,
Are you sure you're looking at the ACC2 ring contact? Ring is KEY OUT; tip is
GPIO, a logic signal configurable in the ACC2 IO Menu entry.

The K4D looks like an amazing radio! I am interested in diversity rx,
primarily on 50 MHz. A few questions:
(1) Are the two K4D receivers phase coherent (in sync)?
(2) What is the resolution of the HDMI video output?
(3) Will the Ref In work with something like the Bodnar GPS reference clock?
I'm exploring using my KX3 with the QRP-Labs 50W Amplifier. In measuring
the keyline output, I get zero volts to ground when in receive and about
0.5 volts in transmit. When measuring resistance across the keyline I get
about 70 ohms in receive and 5K ohms in transmit.
Isn't the keyline supposed

Barry,
Check the soldering for the LCD display pins. I would also check
continuity on Front Panel U1 to the display pins. Should you find any
that do not have continuity, do not lift the LCD to reflow the solder,
instead, carve a notch in the socket and solder it from on the socket side.

You sound exactly like me 20 years ago. I built a K2 with all the options
including the KPA100 but no KSB2. They weren't all available yet when I built
the K2 but as they became available they were all fun little add on projects,
except the KPA100, which was a bigger fun add-on project. Lots
Bob,
According to my KXPA100 manual (A2-2013) - "... tap *tune* again within 5
seconds. The ATU will do a second tune using smaller steps in inductance
and capacitance values."
All my Electraft ATUs have a similar feature. Downside - It does take much
longer to achieve the match.

I have K2/10 serial #5308 and have not noticed any loud pop on strong CW
signals.
I used it in the 2018 and 2019 CQWW CW contest to obtain my QRP DXCC award with
no such problem.
I do have the DSP module and not the audio filter option. I'm not sure that
makes a difference.

Bob: the KXPA100 Utility operate page should have check boxes for manual
selection of L and C. There is also an edit box with up and down arrows to
change L and C one step at a time. See if you can wiggle those to a place that
better suits you. There is a save button once you’ve reached
