I have now fixed my problem. RFC1 was not soldered in properly. At first,
after much debugging of the schematic I thought it open circuit. It was only
when I came to remove it that it became clear what had happened. One end was
not soldered at all. A common problem with these large SMT inductors.

working. In fact, there is a bit of a disadvantage as it takes up space in

Farnell also do them in the UK. I have also seen many available via Ebay.
I would not worry too much about them, they have their weaknesses,
especially their tendency to come apart from each other because of the lack
of a locking mechanism, but at least they are a standard now.
It is hardly surprising considering the US Dollar is so weak at the moment
and most of the parts are not made in the USA. Had Elecraft passed on the
complete fall in the Dollar, I suspect it would be a lot more.
