recommends 1-2 db for a setting, I see that the adjustment can be
higher. What setting are most CW operator using?

The 'mono' label is tricky. I think it means that the mic. audio is mono
but not the jack.

My cheap radio shack computer headset works just fine, too.
The ring terminal on the jack is not connected, so you can safely use
a MONO (i.e., single channel) or a STEREO (dual channel) connector, as

in order to get the correct ALC readings and power output. Is this

not blinking), I was able to make a good QSO to S. Carolina (5/7) BUT my
own TX is coming out of my speaker just like when in test mode!
TEST mode simply ensures no RF goes out.
The transmit audio level is controlled by MON. It is independent of TEST.
I set a power, any power it does not matter. I key the key to produce a tone
output and see a spike at least 20% above the set power level, but only for
the first transmission. After that the power drops back and stays correct
until I change the power. Then the process repeats.

first I thought it was a speaker problem, but after swapping everything
from side to side without change, I noticed that it was nicely balanced if I
turned AFX off.

The FM filter in slot 1 must be set to 13.0.

I think that there was a QST article some years ago regarding an audio
filter/equaliser tailored to match one's hearing loss profile. The
author claimed that it enabled him to hear his radio much more clearly.
This is part of the reason for the 8-band equalizer in the K3 receiver.

panel, OR line in. The wave files were coming via the line in and the
mike via the Front panel. Did I over look something?
