I have a KPA100 at the first test point. The K2 that I intend to use with it
is also at the first test point. Can I attach the KPA to this K2 and finish
the voltage tests in the KPA before installing the inductors and continuing
on??

also good if you need to remove an option for troubleshooting. Removing an
option usually disables the radio in some way requiring reinstalling parts
to make the radio work. I did not do the eliminators and wish I had.

tuned 2:1. Some bands (lower primarily) the power is reduced

I already use a BNC to banana plug adaptor for my voltmeter for other
reasons. This just made the probe compatible with my system. However, this
does make for a solid connection.

I have been using a Kenwood MC80 with my K2. I use batteries, but I have
been told that the mic. will power with 5 volts. The mic. does have a
gain/level control that can be used to dial in the right level.

use the jamboree (JOTA) freqs as a starting point. There appear to be three
contest/QSO parties this weekend. SSB and FM will be the modes. Digital was
planned but I could not get the interface to work in time.

3940, 7270, 14290, 21360, 28390 are the SSB suggested frequencies.
Most of the time will be spent on 80, 40, 20. I will check 15 and 10 for
openings throughout the day. Last time I was at camp with a radio there was
a nice opening on 10. Akron OH to Phoenix on about 1 watt SSB.

Before you send it off. Check the diodes. I installed 1 backwards and got
the same issues. I am referring to the switching diodes on both ends of the
crystal filter.

and got strange sounding receive audio and no transmit signal. I could see
depending which diode is wrong your symptoms would appear. There are 8
diodes to choose from (I think). Also check the usual solder bridges,
etc There maybe other causes someone else may help if that is the case.

Last week there was a thread about this. Leaving the probe in increased some
spurs in the transmitter output. Values were not given, but it sounds
removing it is the better idea. When you are done tweaking the filters take
it out.
