Is there a good place to tap the IF stream for an output? I have a spectrum
analyzer and was thinking of running an IF-out to the analyzer, it doesn't
matter what frequency if its under a gig.

Steve,
You did not say which transceiver you have, so we can't really answer
except to say that the K3 does have an IF output if you install the KXV3
option.

Are you asking this about a Wells-Gardner BC-348-R?
For some reason, it always seems to help if the applicable radio
is identified. :-)

I figured the radio was implied since I posted in the K2 forum In any event,
its a K2 SN 6950. I'm just looking for a constant frequency I can use
post-VFO to run through my spectrum analyzer so I can see the band I'm on.

Steve,
One cannot usually use a spectrum analyzer in situ like you would an
oscilloscope - the spectrum analyzer has a 50 ohm input and will load
the circuit under test significantly. That is why you need the buffer
amplifier.

I have programmed FN4 and FN8 as Fred does.
I originally did it in an attempt to cut down on any possible long-term wear of
the Tap=QSY button but have gotten used to it and prefer using FN4/8.
Also, as mentioned, it eliminates the problem that some people have caused by
turning the knob
of the pass band, as
per CW, and PSK D mode.

Jim,
I don't have a P3, so cannot comment directly on that aspect, but there
seems to be some confusion between DATA A and AFSK A in your latest
e-mail, which may obscure your message.
The mode normally used for PSK and other sound card digital modes is
DATA A. DATA A is an upper sideband

I think this is a feature that’s required for the P3.

Just setting up for PSK contest and notice that the tap to QSO is not
accurate, ie if I tap to qsy to the scope peak for a PSK signal with the
filters narrow to say 0.2
of K3/P3 firmware are you running?

Just started happening today.
MCU 3.80.
I tap power (to shut it off, just as I've always done)
The LCD goes all-orange, no segments. The Rx goes off.
If I power cycle the power-supply the K3 comes back on in normal
operation.
Strange.
