Brian,
If you have not 'trained' the tuner on each band segment, the KAT500
will use the settings from the closest band segment where data is available.
After 'training' the tuner, do you switch the tuner to MANual? If not
you should. If left in AUTO, there will be times when the tuner
Thanks all. I did notice the chart in the manual but wasn’t sure if the memory
could hold all of that for all bands/antenna. I’m working on a program to
automate this process (with manual transmit so as not to disturb ongoing
QSO’s), and didn’t want to set up more than the memory would allow.
Are the segments on fixed frequencies? I like to work through the bands I
use before contests to set up tuning. Sometimes in the following contest I
find a frequency which seems to be between segments, retuning within 10KHz
either side doesn't then seem to correct the tuning on the specific
Harlan,
There are enough to store data for each band segment in the 160m thru 6m
bands. Page 15 of the KAT500 manual shows the width of each band segments:
Below 3 MHz the segments are 10 kHz wide.
From 3 MHz through 26 MHz the segments are 20 kHz wide.
From 26 MHz to 38 MHz the

I understand the tuner holds tune data in memories for quicker tuning when
changing frequencies, and it stores separate data for each antenna port. My
question is, how many data points can these memories hold? In other words, how
many frequencies per band per antenna can it hold?

I updated to version 1.63 earlier today from 1.58. I have the latest
firmware versions on both the K3 and the KPA500. To try out the new faster
tuning algorithm I tried to erase the memorised tune settings using the
