the story as of last saturday morning ;-) was that the amp may include 6m (yay!) and that the 1500W unit will come out after the 800W is on the market. (6m would be derated, however, because 6m is about at the limit of what the finals can do.) The 800W version has the switching power supply

Yes, Blasphemy in the eyes of the 'QRP only' folks, but consider that the K2 has grown in respect by leaps and bounds - at first it was considered a 'toy radio' by some, but it has become noticed by not only the QRP folks, but also by the QRO, contesting, and DX communities as a superb receiver
