Phil,
I modified a 300W ATX PS from my junk box 5 years ago and using it
every day since with my K2 and K3. A lot of dxing and contests, not
a single issue.
The quality of the PC PS differs too much, but a good many of them
are not worse than the other swithers.

HI Ron:
On a quick look, this PS looks attractive, but my concern would be if
it is designed to power electronic devices. Most of the write-ups
deal with people who are powering a 12V DC picnic cooler, where the
purity of the DC power is less of a worry.
I think there are better units
I've looked at several small 2-5 amp switchers for possible use with my KX3
(whenever it arrives). All have been pretty RF noisy. I haven't looked at
the Fry's or Amazon units, but I'm a little suspicious and I'm getting tired
of spending money!! So far, my Gamma HPS-1a seems to be the way
I haven't got a KX3 yet but when I do I will power it the same way I power my
KX1, my Norcal 40A, and even my K3 at times. A rechargeable Li-ion
nano-phosphate battery pack available from Buddipole. The four cell variety is
a very nice size for powering the small equipment like the KX1 or
A shot in the dark.
Has anyone adapted a standard ATX-type computer power supply
12V DC output to run a transceiver (K2, VHF, etc)? I have
one that could be used if feasible.
Pro/con experiences appreciated.

Phil,
If of any help to you, I did use a Toshiba Laptop power supply to run my
K2's receiver continuously (i.e. 24/7) for almost 3 years in Scotland during
a propagation study. This supply's output is stated to be 15 V DC, and its
current rating is 6A.
Because this supply's voltage output is

I would not use a supply that was not designed/marketed specifically for radio
use. RFI could be awful.
