I have owned an ALS-600 for the last 5 years and have, for the most part been quite happy with it. I did an expensive solution to the "no QSK" problem by purchasing the Ameritron QSK-5; the pair work flawlessly together with fast, "thump free", full QSK. My biggest complaint with the '600 is the

I bought my 572Bs about ten years ago, 10USD for each one. After 5+ QSOs, I replaced it about 3 years ago. Not bad for 30USD investment. I was heard the new 572B is not as good as ten years ago, that is only because the dealer (in US?) need more cheaper 572Bs. All the best! David BA4RF On Sun

That is why many hams built their own amplifiers back then - a pair of 813s could be obtained for $25 or less back then and there were surplus transformers available at a reasonable cost. There were several "pair of 813s in Grounded Grid" circuits published back then, followed by the 'pair of

What catches my eye is that comparing the amps on page 1 and page 9, you have to pay $2,000 more for an additional 1.7 dB of gain with the amp on page 9. Sure. you have to know how to adjust an amp and actually tune the one on page 1 whereas the one on page 9 is "no tuning" (assuming the antenna i
