We tried to solve it, but finally the k3 had to be used in cw.
What do you think?

Sounds like the offset is zero instead of the value indicated on the

Andy,
I use DXLab's Commander, its rig control module, with its user-defined

to switch between the two mic inputs and set the TXEQ for each.
My setup has a PR781 on the front input and a Heil Proset Plus on the rear.

Just installed a sub RX in my K3, mainly for the purpose of making things
easier when working DX with split - finding the calling station's frequency
and moving my TX freq there.
Before getting the sub RX I did this by holding REV while adjusting VFO A
knob to center the calling station in the
Craig, the technique that I use is to tune looking for the DX station with the
main receiver and knob. When I have found him, I then press the AB button and
put the sub receiver on his frequency and then tap sub. Then I tune the main
VFO to the frequency that I want to transmit and I don't
Mike,
The contour is nothing more than a Notch/Dip filter or a Peak filter (you can
change it's function in the menu). Basically you center the contour in the
center of the pass band (pitch freq) and you can set it to either Push up that
signal (no different than if you set your Pitch freq.
The contour...
The reason I chose 400Hz is because unlike the contour which can variably
move through the entire pass band area (600Hz - 900Khz) , with the K3 you
only get a specific Freq. settings for each EQ setting.
In CW mode you also have DUAL PB which tracks your PITCH setting.
Hi elecrafters, i have for sale a Elecraft K2DSP module. 100% ok and ready for

I just completed building a K3/100 from a kit. Everything fit perfectly. The
directions were clear. It worked the first time.
This is the third K3 in my station. I will get one more this summer and will
probably do another kit. It was fun.
I also added the GaAsFet 6M preamp to the station and
Actually you can't do that with the K3 at narrower bandwidths in CW. The RX
EQ is deactivated at narrower filter settings. (Unless this changed in a
recent firmware release). I don't recall what the cutoff width is and I
can't find it described in the latest manual.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestion (and variations thereon) of not using

I just noticed my VFO B knob was cracked; I rarely use it, so don't know how

John,
Yes, the PR6 can be used on the K3 with a single TX/RX antenna - if the
KXV3 option is installed in the K3.
The PR6 is easy to place in the RX only path if the KXV3 is installed.
The KXV3 option has RX ANT OUT and RX ANT IN connectors - the PR6 is
normally placed between those two

Set 'TUN PWR' = 020 so you have 20W for tuning the Acom.

Was operating on 17M SSB with NR on. Went to change AGC setting. When

Hi Brian,
It's always been like that. The manual says NR is not applicable in
DATA and FM modes, or with AGC turned off. When you say it did not
return when a more slow or fast AGC was selected, I assume you mean
it didn't automatically turn itself back on when you re-enabled AGC.

It needs to be pointed out from time to time that whether the PR6 makes no
discernible difference or a HUGE difference depends on one critically
important variable: YOUR NOISE

That's the way the K3 operates.
There are two mode groups; CW/FSK D/PSK D and SSB/AM/FM/DATA A/AFSK A.
Note the A in DATA A and AFSK A ...

I'd have to go check but I'm pretty sure that VOX is remembered per
band/per mode so you just have to set it that way and it should remember
it.

Also check your VOX level in the menu. It needs to be turned up very
high when using it for digital modes. You are correct to use DataA for
PSK and other audio based digital modes. AFSK can be used for RTTY and
gives you the advantage of using the dual peak filters. Other than that
