[Elecraft] K3 - Remote activation of KAT500 via HRD

2014-01-16 Thread Bill W
Hi All, I have a question to ask this group as perhaps someone already has the answer. The situation is as follows. I use HRD (Ham Radio Deluxe) to run my K line (K3, P3, KPA500, KAT500) remotely once in a while. The “Tune” button on the HRD's simulated Radio Face works fine in initiating the tune

2014-01-16 Thread David Perrin
The way I accomplish that operation is just connect a simple SPDT toggle switch between the Ground and PTT line of the DIN connector on the rear panel. Or you could use a push button switch. I use the internal keyer to send CW; the best I could do with that is to either use the dit side of the

Either that (works on FM, too) or simply press the TUNE button (not ATU TUNE), it's there exactly for that, putting out a steady carrier, no matter which mode. ;-) Besides this the K3 (assuming you are talking about that as no mention of the radio) well has a separate input for a straight

Bob, Something I made quite a while ago, and you may consider making, is a simple, small utility box to sit next to your radio (K3 or KX3). Mine is simply a plastic Radio Shack project box. On the back I have 1/4 jacks to plug in several different paddles and straight keys. There are two jacks
