Did you make the trace cut and add the wires to change the sidetone
signal source? The changes are shown in the KIO2 manual page 10 and
also in the KPA100 manual page 59.
Check and double check those changes. Especially the position of the
wire and capacitor at Control Board P4.
I finally got around to writing up what I did to equip my loaded
K2/100 for digital modes.
This board is based on the design of EA3BLQ (SK), and fits between the
front-panel and control boards in the K2.

changes that would make the the three device all get along much better.

Folks, the K3 has two serial ports: a standard RS232 for talking to a
computer, and an 'ACC' port for talking to the amp. Same situation with
the KPA500: an RS232, and an AUX port.
On both devices, the speed of the RS232 port is changeable. But those
