Hi!
MFJ259B calibration procedure can be found from:

I have one unit that I blew up with reverse polarity. Still trying to fix
it.

Anyone have any success accessing Tom's web site:
http://www.w8ji.com/mfj-259b_calibration.htm
Every time I attempt it, I either time out or get the old "This Page Cannot
Be Displayed... yadda... yadda... yadda?.

I am getting some tool together for an upcoming DXpedition, and the issue
of a decent soldering iron came to mind. Where we will be operating from
has 220v, so my regular station will not be suitable by itself. As I see
it, there are 4 possible options.
1 - Look for 220v iron
2 - Get a 12v iron t

W8JI designed the unit and has written a very detailed alignment procedure that
is on his
website. A search on W8JI and MFJ259B will turn up a link.
As coincidence would have it, I found a 259B at a hamfest over the weekend and
plan to
use his instructions myself. They look good, but I haven'

Try the MFJ with an ethernet terminator. I bet it will look much
better. I suspect the resistors are not as

Does anyone know where I can find detailed alignment instructions for a
MFJ-259B?
I bought some Vishay precision non-inductive power resistors - 25 ohm, 50
ohm and 100 ohms 100 watt rating to use as dummy loads. I assembled them to
a proper heat sink and connected to an SO-239 with zero length le
Hi,
I'm redoing all the ajustements of my K2 from the beginning, just to
make sure everything is "top notch" !!!
In alignment section 3, on page 75, the first step of the 40m

Dave,
Congratulations on your first QSO with the KX1 and your 2nd QSO ever! It's a
very exciting thing to have someone answer you on a radio that you built and
put together. Best of luck with your KX1 and hope you have many more QSO's!

Ferrite cores used for rf chokes and broadband transformers tend to vary
substantially more in their mixes than do cores manufactured from powdered

Hi
It seems I have run into this when the trimmers are peaked out of sequence. The
bands are set up as sort of a master/slave arrangement so it is important to
set the correct band first before doing the next. You must follow the peaking
procedure exactly in order as listed in the manual. In yo
Randy,
I had some similar problems while building my K1. I found I had a bad solder
joint in a couple of capacitors in the Premix filter of the filter board. I
believe it was c22 but I'm not sure without a diagram to look at. My problem
was intermittent output on 30m and I believe I had low ou
Greetings:
For those who have choosen to buy the toroid and transformer bits

I would sure like to have that collection of toroid and transformer
bits to play with this coming winter. It
Hi John,
The capacitor goes between pins 1 & 4 of U3 (SSM2165). It should be mounted on
the bottom side of the KSB2 board. The RF choke value is not critical and can
be
anywhere between 1mH and 3mH. If you use one of a reasonable size it can be
easily fitted by unsoldering and lifting out one
