I definitely think it's grey. I don't think there is a touch of green in it at
all.. but that is my opinion. A densitometer would probably answer that
question. I have one here, perhaps I can bring the K2 into work and check it
out?!
I wonder if anyone out there has customized their k2 cases

Don,
Yours has been the only reply though I did talk to Richard at Elecraft. The
setup for the test is no antenna, no xmit, no other cables connected other
than the 4 inch cable from K2 P4 to KPA 100 P1. I reheated the offending
pins and double checked the components in that circuit for good
Don't forget that the color you see will depend upon the color of light
illuminating it!
This morning mine is definitely green with the sunlight blasting off of the
lawn outside my window. In direct sky light it's gray (or grey)- brown, and
in warm incandescent light in the evening the brown
Maybe the guys at Elecraft will just tell us what the color really is ?

Please reply off list.

Hi
My controller needs to see a constant current source like a solar panel as a
supply. You can connect a solar panel and a power supply if you make the power
supply a constant current source and you isolate the panel and power supply
with a diode just like you would do with several solar
Looking for a KAF2 for a friend (W9LR) who just picked up a K2 S# 529. I've
got some fixing to do to it for him and do the upgrades from A to B and the
such. If you have a KAF2 for sale built or unbuilt let me know via direct
email.

I am planning on purchasing a K2 for general use (SSB and CW) with a current
preference for CW. (I enjoy working on CW although I'm not very good.) My
preferences may change as my experience grows, so flexibility is important.
The question is, why would you want to have the KAF2 instead of

Howard,
I can't speak for anyone else, but I just don't like the sound of any audio
DSP processor, particularly for CW use. They are good for digging signals
out very close to the noise level, but my ears find the KAF2 far less
irritating for extended operating periods.

I'll second Stewart's recommendation whole-heartedly, Nicholas. I also have

is a total of 45 feet long overall, which works FB down through 40 meters

Nicholas,
You can't get much better or more simple than a dipole. Get it up as high
as possible and feed it with parallel line. 44 feet is a great length for
40 thru 10 meters and will do 80 meters in a pinch. Can you get one end to
the peak of the roof? That may give you the extra distance
I bought my KAF2 before the KDSP2 was available. I have not upgraded to the
KDSP2 for the following reasons:
- it costs more
- it uses more current
- the KAF2 does a great job on CW
If you are a SSB op, and are going with a KPA100... then it would be a natural
progression to have a KDSP2 so that

Bill W9LR just bought a used K2 he's lurking here someplace. It's S# 529

one component that was never soldered. Remember the Mantra, check the

Cost, and for some issues the KAF2 will work as well as its
more expensive brother. Many guys have KAF2's sitting in their
desks that have been replaced by KDSP2's, and these are typically
available

Many thanks for your thoughts
In the CQ 160 CW contest this past winter we used my K2/100 (SN 850 A)with
the KDSP2.
No receive antenna (that's a whole story by itself!) and an Inverted-L with
a flock of radials.
Probably 80% of the time we ran with out any NR or DSP filters. If you
