David,
I would suggest that you review the A to B mod on the Elecraft website
www.elecraft.com (Builders Resource area) before doing anything. Download
the A to B instruction manual and make a decision of which 'optional' mods
to install (I recommend all of them), and if you are not certain t
I recently acquired a semi complete K2 (S/N 638). I intend to complete it and
suspect there have been several design improvements since it was sold. Could
anyone point me to a list of recommended updates/mods that I should incorporate?
Thank you.

The connector is referred to as a 'Mate-N-Lok'. I believe it is the same
connector that Elecraft uses to plug in the 12v gel cell into the K2's
motherboard.
Some people buy a female (receptacle) Mate-N-Lok (from Mouser, etc., use the
name as a search term on Mouser's website) and make an adapte

Let me know ASAP if you want any more.

I downloaded a patch to my system from Red Hat and have never had a
problem with unsolicited Windows sounds since...or any unsolicited
sounds for that matter ;-) It works great with my PSK-20 which has

I recently discovered that a 20-amp power supply with poor power-up

Check the CAL TPA temperature setting in your MENU, Stephen.
It's been a while and I've forgotten the exact cause, but a number of ops
discovered that the temperature setting was suddenly way off, causing the
fan to run constantly. Somehow the initial setting got over-written.

Tom and all,
This method is good technically, BUT...
Since most digital mode software also has provision for PTT (yes, it
requires building a simple interface), I would never advocate the use of VOX
for digital modes except perhaps in an emergency - it is too easy to forget

Hi Roy,
This is not true. The K2's internal ALC is ALWAYS active on PTT closure,
regardless of where the K2 meter is set.
There is no issue with linearity or overdriving an external linear. If
anything, we are conservative after power up or a band change and err

Hi everyone.

Abt. 2 weeks ago there was sort of a poll on the vox in the K2.
Well the majority of us like to ptt on ssb , but the vox is very handy in
digimode.

Has anyone ever checked and graphed the cold start to warm-up drift of their

Here's a good one...
While testing the latest version of my Anti-VOX board I got reports saying that
my SSB signal was "clicky"on VOX. I thought the worst...
After much investigation it turned out to be nothing to do with my board, or
the

It is kind of tricky to get it right. The actions you describe indicate
that you have the underline under the InP. The underline can not be under
the InP to get this extra feature.
Follow these steps:

Hello,
just being glad to be within the Elecraft K2 community

Well the speaker needs to be fixed to the top cover and
there are some options (K160RX, KAF2, KNB2, KAT2, KSB2) to
be added but I don't expect any difficulties to occur.

I can comment on the use on WinLink for use by maritime motile stations,
