Good Morning Kevin,
Don't give up on 40m propagation yet !! Last night (Saturday) stateside
signals were very strong (East coast to Central states) exchanging Party
reports. There were some West coast signals later, weak but readable when in
the clear. Heavy RTTY QRM 7.025 up. I had been
Hi,
Just my 2c worth..in the days before the stray oscillation that
occurred in *some* KPA100's was found and a fix presented, I was advised by
Gary to try mounting my C83 on the *TOP* of the ends of the 1 and 3
winding of T2, and it is still there lying parallel with the PC board,
Many thanks to all who responded to my query on this topic. Several asked that

There is a quite detailed description of the WWVB 60 kHz transmitter at

Hello, Fellow Elecrafters:
I recently decided to upgrade the tuning knob on my K1. I purchased
several different knobs and have a few spares, if anyone is interested.
I have the Alinco DX-70T main tuning knob. It has a skirt diameter of
1-5/16 and is weighted, with a brass insert. It also
Thought I would share this... came across some nice LCD display modules
(voltage, temp, elapsed time, etc.) while looking for something to add to my
AA UC3906 Charger for charge monitoring.
You can get big LED displays modules on eBay for $10, and these are
certainly not cheap, but they are
I'm finished with the KPA-100. Got it on the air this morning. So far
everything is working fine business. My first two reports were Excellent
tone quality and Outstanding signal very FB. I think that says it all.
Elecraft is an outstanding company with outstanding products. I wouldn't
Hello all,
I'm looking to buy a 110 vac Dow Key antenna relay with SO239
connectors. I also am looking for the MIC plug to fit the connector on
the Heathkit DX60, can't find them at Mouser, Digikey, etc.
Thanks

I haven't finished the final construction (speaker, etc), but I
couldn't wait to try my new K2 out so I answered a CQ this afternoon on
40 and was heard by poor KE4FIG. The band was iffy (lots of fading) and
my code is currently horribly rusty so I had to bail out early, but my
new K2 went

Hi Rob,
Your problem sound a bit different. What was happening on
quite a few earlier KPA100's was the diodes in the switching circuit were
providing enough capacitance to cause a tuned circuit with RFC3 and that
circuit would break into oscillation and modulate the carrier with a
Hello to all. First time posting herem glad to be a part of the Elecraft
family. I have a K1, K2, xg-1. the K2 is having a problem with pitch

perfect, other times not. Normally if there is a pitch difference, opt-1 is
Hello All,
K2 SN 4836 is alive and k(l)icking.
After I had some trouble with the receiver (installed a resistor on the
wrong place on the control board AND forgot to install the series
capacitor from the VCO to the RX mixer) I got help of Don Wilhelm
(W3FPR). All have been sorted out and

They shouldn't be hard to find. I saw some on a few of the boat anchor sites
for 2 bucks. A lot of signal generators and other similar test equipment of
the time used them also so you often see them at swap meets in the milk
cartons full of odd cables.
And if you need one absolutely right NOW, I
Tom,
If the pitch difference is 20 Hz or less, you have hit the 'best you can do'
point. The DAC quantization error is about that size. Some folks claim
that you can use techniques like modifying the filter width a bit to cure
it, but I have never tried it, and for my purposes, it is just not

Hi All,
Ok, I know I've said this before, but I am now _really_ getting ready to
upgrade my K2 (#402). Honestly, I don’t know how it could be better, but
others have said so. My K2 acquitted itself in the last Foxhunt, and I
haven't had a lick of trouble with this thing in, what, 5 years, I

is within the resolution of the D2A conversion. It is something you
can learn quite easily to live with, if you will allow yourself. It is
something that will drive you crazy if you won't allow yourself.
