Probably a daft question but am I right to assume that the version of
firmware supplied as part of a K3 kit purchased from Elecraft is the latest
released version existing at the time of shipping the kit, or is the kit
supplied with some early version of firmware which has to be updated as part

The firmware on mine was right up to date to the version released that
week. I would recommend you test and align your K3 with the version that
it comes with, then once it is fully working you can update it to the
latest version from the web.

You can change the display time on the KX-1 between 5 and 60 seconds
or always on. See page 65 of the owners manual under LED.

It worked! Moving the forty meter net forward in time allowed many more to
check in. Signals were great here but some of the reports for me were not as
good. Where I was giving a 579 I was getting a 559 with QSB. Oh well, it
worked as well as it could. From my afternoon's
I have configured my computer and paddle according to Figure 8-1 on page 92
of my K2 owner's manual. According to the N3FJP software I connected the
keyline to pin 7 of the d-sub and ground to pin 5. I selected INP PDLn and A
