Thats the only bummer about he MKII. On my operating table its a bit of
a challenge to have to swap out cables on the back of the rig. I guess
an extension off of the K3 could be made so one doesn't have to drag the
rig out to make the change.

Hi,
I have noticed that at times the audio volume on ssb will be reduced. I have to

At other times it will be fine at around the 1 o'clock position with either

Chuck,
Since you have a 'scope, I would suggest you remove the PA transistors
from the picture and see if the oscillation persists. You can easily
de-solder T3 which will remove voltage from the PA collectors.
If you still have the oscillation at the base of Q7/8 (or at the
collector) of Q6,
We'll be sending test firmware to those experiencing this, probably
today.

I always use my MKII to do the upgrade.
Followed the procedure as Joe describes. No problems.
If you are in doubt first try to save the configuration to test the
communication.
I know this procedure is not recommended.

IMHO from RTFM = From the Manual on the W2 Copies below, you will see that
the W2 will range the sensors. The 2KW sensor for instance can show only
0-20 watts so with 20 lights, the lowest light lit would be 1 watt. and for
the 200 w sensor it will be 1/10 watt.

Hi Don,

A really great feature of K3EZ is that it auto tunes the rig at all of
the preset bins across all bands that you wish. This is something that
would be slick if it were built into the calibration section of the

The LP-100A (I have one) is spec'd at 5% or better, without saying what
or better means, and 2% relative, which isn't a spec Elecraft provides
for the W2, but which one could reasonably assume is in the same range.

Here's another question: I have a dipole with 200 feet of window-line
