I support Ian's suggested option. My previous question about using a

Hi,
Something like it happens with the DVK playback buttons (M1-M4):
If you assign some function to it, and you try to playback a dvk message

Actually the play dvk message CAT command mimics pressing the front panel

This was all done in the keyboard firmware; no software application
necessary.

I do not understand how assigning APF to a PF button makes things any

The macro facility is seriously overplayed as an answer to missing

Neither microHAM nor Elecraft recommend installing firmware through one of
their devices and the microHAM router (the software in your PC that
implements K3 port sharing for the microHAM CW keyer).
You'll need a USB to Serial adapter or real RS-232 cable.

Does anyone know what the term matches means in relation to the phrase

Does it mean: a) that will achieve 1:1 of the antenna is at 10:1, or b) that

On page 32, KE7X offers that key combination for initializing
parameters to the default setting. I'm not sure if that applied to my

John I have no knowledge of what Elecraft is going to do. In general there

At K3 Support we very rarely ask someone to do the Parameter
Initialization (EE INIT)
If you did not have a good CONFIG file saved you could spend a good hour
turning options back on, redoing calibrations and filter set up.
If the K3 has a problem or a small glitch trying to reload the firmware
Amazon's Cloud service that QRZ runs on took a power hit and that
affected QRZ.

Brian,
I don't know the exact answer, but there is nothing wrong with a 2:1 SWR
since the KPA500 will work into that load easily. However I would
expect it to match to 1.2 or better
The range will be more limited at lower frequencies - that is just the
way the math works for matching
Let me add my recommendation *against* doing Parameter Initialization
(EE INIT) for the K3 or the KX3 - the same also applies to a Master
Reset for the K2. It is to be used only as a last resort - if you have
saved the configuration at a time when all was working just fine, it is

Take a look at the schematic for the T1 tuner (in the manual) and you will

BTW- you can not/should not put your swr meter between the T1 tuner and the

If you are using the K1 you bought from me, keep in mind it has the KAT1
internal tuner. There should generally be no need to use the T1 with it. If
you -do- use the T1, remember to put the internal tuner in the K1 in CLS or

Try seeing if the problem exists when the 70 cm is powered up when you turn
