set up so that I turn it counterclockwise till I see a one bar increase with
the s-meter. This puts the RF Gain control at about 3:00. The K3 seems to

I can't recall accidentally LINKing VFOs for a good year or more, not since
I started using macros to drop into and out of split mode, set up the audio
and filters etc.
Couldn't the issue of DXpeditioners accidentally LINKing VFOs, or perhaps
tuning the wrong VFO
Use 40 meters or whatever band is applicable to your generator.
See the Calibration Procedures section of the K3 manual - S-Meter
subsection.
If you are using S-MTR ABS, you may want to calibrate with the preamp
off rather than on.

cable provided, at the time it is switched on, the KAT500 is connected to a
