George,
What happens when you transmit into a dummy load?
What happens if you connect the K3 directly to the tuner (remove the amp
from the path of coax)?
If my understanding of your setup is correct, the K3 will indicate the
SWR it sees into the input of the amp.
OTOH, the amp sees the SWR

the highest class there is Advanced.

The 4-wire AH4 connection doesn't PTT key the amp. It has 12v, ground, Start,
which is a signal from the Icom to the tuner that is asserted when you press

Thank you for the responses and suggestions:
1.) Ran the ant coax thru the balun directly to the K3- SWR 4.2/1
2.) Ran the ant coax thru the LDG 600 Pro bypassing the amp- high SWR
3.) When I hit the tune function on the LDG, I am getting from the tuner a

that way...

Well that is a good question….when keyed…the tuner obviously sees the rf
because it starts the calibration process and shows the wattage I am

the normal cal noises and the stops showing all red high swr…
So I believe
At times like this, it is nice to have a manual tuner that you can
substitute for the auto-tuner.
Are you certain there is no problem with the antenna itself, such that
the tuner cannot resolve the SWR?

There is nothing associated with either of those options that would
change the dial calibration - so if it really changed during the

Hi Dale
I ran into a similar problem a year ago with a friends LDG tuner. He moved to a
nursing home and other people put up the station and antenna in the attic. I
found they cut the coax and just pushed the two ends together. We fixed that
and the LDG tuner would not make a match but did try.
As far as I have been able to tell, this is an issue of the data display on the

have been remoting K6LRG as my primary station.
The K3 side is fine. it does not switch to cw mode. the symptop is that it

The answer is an emphatic YES. That cable is NOT suggested, it is
mandatory to keep from damaging your K2.
The K2 uses only 3 of the RS-232 level signals, TXD, RXD and Signal

The other pins in the K2 AUX IO connector
