Hi Folks,
yes, the TX Test works great on the K3. NO issues..
I have the K3/0 mini which would work great.
I know there are speakers, but I don't hear anything. At least a quick
try the one headset didn't work

Just turn on TX TEST mode on the K3, no need to fiddle with power. The K3/0
should also work, but I always key the RRC so I am not positive.

I turn the power down to zero watts. With a set of ear buds I can put one
over the laptop microphone with a paper clip rigged to hold it on and the
other in one ear.
Rube Goldberg would be so proud!

My KX3 came with a nick in one of the battery case wires. They're not the
most sturdy part in the rig. Elecraft happily sent me a replacement, so
hopefully they'll get you sorted too.
Cheers,

Can you use a K3/0 as a code oscillator?

I pulled the battery tray out of the radio and test voltage then continuity
after removing the batteries There was zero volts on the plug and one of 4
wires had continuity.
I’ll have to get a call into Elecraft in the morning.

While your KX3 with the Ni-MH batteries installed is ON with an external power
supply, tap DISP and rotate the OFS/VFO B nobl to find BT voltage. This lets
you know the battery voltage.
My KX3 with fully charged Ni-MH batteries shows “BT 10.7V”. It should be more

With regard to the charging the Eneloop's, they come fully charged and thus
setting up to charge them might deliver an error.
One other possibility, what is the minimum operating voltage (Bat min) in
the menu is set to? Try something like 9v.
Do you measure voltage at the battery connector?

Check the BNC cable between the K3 IF Out and the P3. At the P3 end,
make sure it is connected to IF IN.

Jim,
At the risk of asking the obvious question, did you remember to
connect the coaxial cable from the K3 IF output to the P3 input?
The other data functions are handled by the RS-232 cabling,
but without RF there's nothing to display.

Yes, there are many reasons to match as well as possible ... depending on
many other factors ... so I never argue with that principle. Bob put

I'll also note that the TS-890S example quoted surfaces in relatively few
station setups and requires the operator to be determined in ignoring one of a
couple of work-arounds. However, the point about manufacturer responsiveness
is well made. I doubt that I will be making any modifications
