I haven't bought the K3 and P3 combo - still kicking the tires. That,
and getting a few more questions answered.
It is possible to output the P3 to a large monitor? Anyone doing it that
can comment?

In other words: I operate from home at my desk only - therefore, if I
manually turn the K3 on and then start HRD and shut HRD down then turn
K3 off will work FB?
Simple station here - no remote operation, paper log, no digital, no
rotor, and I mail QSLs with a stamp.

Not worried about the size of speakers, I use a pair of Behringer MS40
amplified speakers. They are two channel input (left and right each)
with an on-board amplifier. There appears to be no sensitivity to RF.
You can plug earphones directly into the speakers - and there are
controls for

with only mediocre success - followed by setting up the same K3 with my
Signalink USB - also with questionable results. I followed many threads

Not being a programmer - what does the lack of the null character mean?
Will a simple terminal program such as Putty suffice for working with

I have assorted computer parts around - so I should be OK.
The make and model is the Genovation CP24 Serial - also got the USB
cable, for possible use in programming the keypad without having to
unplug everything.

My goal is to take the computer out of the mix completely. I do not need
it for my style of operating and only use an old version of HRD for rig
control. The keypad will allow much better rig control than HRD
provided. Hence, I will have an open RS-232 for the keypad to use.

It is all about the size - I just want it for the desktop convenience at
my home station (much like the TS-480's face plate). No doubt it will be
very expensive - so be it. I have become accustomed to the high prices

much prefer crimped and soldered spade clips with screw terminal power
strips. May take a little longer to hook things up, but it is sure solid.
Won't come apart with a slight tug either.

There is a lot of mention regarding common mode chokes, RF grounding,
copper to aluminum connections, etc. Speaking only of my station, I
experienced no similar automatic tuner problems with equipment other
than the KAT500. I suspect other ops have similar experiences.
My typical experience

think this problem may have been a good wake up call on what I really
need. Odd the lessons we take away from conversations on the reflector.

an incorrect XMIT frequency during the QSO.
