... Just put the K3 in data mode, tune to the twin waterfall
signals and go... easy-peazee... The point is that I just expected a
bigger screen but the P3SVGA provided so much more value... Just sayin'

Nice document. But it would be interesting to augment the P3 section with a
feature comparison to the Icom. IMHO, the P3/SVGA a a natural component of
the K3S - not just an add-on option. Thanks!

I have a P3 and will be ordering the P3_SVGA. I assume this will NOT
support a wireless USB keyboard, but just thought I would confirm before
buying one... On the topic, any favorite keyboards I should consider - or
avoid? Thanks for your input!

No doubt, small, single-band QRP kits are a bunch of fun. (I still think
Dave Benson's Small Wonder Labs DSW-II is still one of the most innovative
designs - I have two.)
That said, they are no match for the K1 (or K2 now) when it comes to having
a "real radio."

I do not understand the general fear of working with SMT components. The
import hot air soldering stations are relatively cheap and easy-to-use. And

I guess my kids or XYL will dig it out and put it on the market with the rest

Perhaps this is discussed somewhere in the thread, but I am surprised by the
lack of Flex SDRs in the mix. I would have thought at least a few would be
there for PR, if no other reason.

Wow -- I kind of touched a nerve with the big boy reference! I recall this
term was used by Dave Benson in some of his SWL kit documentation. It
merely referred the reader to a stripped-down section of the instructions if
one wanted to bypass the lengthy, step-by-step narrative... My point is
, new features to retrofit the K1 would be a
great first Elecraft big boy kit offering! (I expect that if Elecraft
takes a pass on this opportunity, some enterprising Internet mom 'n pop shop
will step in.)
