Hi All
Once in a while I have an issue with my K2 on 15m and 12m in that
there is no receive and, according to the internal power metering,
next to no transmit. As I say this is intermittent.
The radio is currently in it's QRP format with an internal battery fitted.
However this issue crops

Hi David and Stephen
Thanks very much for the replies to my enquiry and I've followed the advice
from both of you and got a slightly lower capacity battery (2.3Ah) from an
Ebay trade for just under 9GBP+postage (total 13.45GBP)
I did get a reply from Powersonic UK who pointed me to one of their
Hi All
I recentley aquired a complete battery kit for the K2 off of Ebay.
The kit had been purchased by the seller but never built and came
complete with the Powersonic PS-1229 battery.
Now here's the rub. The battery must have been sat for sometime
and now refuses to charge. After 16hrs of
Hi Stewart
It's not that unusual, unfortunately. Last month I ordered the XG-3 from
Elecraft.
It took just under two days to cross the Atlantic, then spent 10 days at
HMC. I called
Parcelfarce and they informed me that HMC is suffering from a backlog and
low manning.
In Europe we probably
attention to the solder and tinning of the
leads.
I will update once the investigation is complete.

Hi All
I have an elderly K2 which had the original KNB2 installed, the one with the
two trimming capacitors in the
bandpass filter circuit. I ordered the revised board and this was built
yesterday. The issue is that with
the new board installed the sensitivity is very much reduced which is

For a while I've not been overly convinced about the sensitivity and dynamic

I have in my possession a K2 with the following options.
KPA100, KSB2, K160RX, KNB2, KDSP2, .
I’m not the original builder of this example and the source of the original
builder is a little vague.
So far I have done a complete reset of the radio, fine tuned the alignment of

Knowing Bob I can confirm he is signifiantly more literate than
the scammer who originated the email, which interestingly did
originate from Kuala Lumpar (IP Trace).
I've sent Bob an email off line alerting him that he has been
spoofed on the reflector.

I'm going through the process of rebuilding a Heathkit SB-200.
One of the additions is a Softkey CCT from Harbach which will
reduce the -120Volt + to a value suitable for nearly all modern
tranceivers' PTT out line. The cost of the CCT is about $27 and
easy to construct and install.

Hi Geoff.
It is a real puzzler. I have checked the voltages on the encoder
and these switch between 4.95V and 100mV when the shaft
is rotated slowly, they don't alternate between each other but
are in sync. It is possible to change the frequency using the
encoder but only by a small amount and
I have in my possession a K2 that has developed a fault with
the encoder.
When trying to tune the radio, rotating the encoder results in just
the last digit displayed flickering back and forth.
At first I thought the Optical encoder had failed and so ordered a
replacement from Elecraft which
say it's safe to
assume that U3 has a damaged output on
pin 14?
Again thanks very much for taking the time
to reply.
