Re: [Elecraft] K1 high demand...
This was slightly tongue in cheek as I remembered that, but i've seen a whole lot of people yelling about K1's lately. If older equipment was good, then we'd all be using AC1's... I'm now going to see how many remember that particular transmitter. On Sun, Apr 28, 2024, 10:35 PM Mark Musick wrote: > Paul, > I think I can answer your question. The simple answer is no. Re: [Elecraft] K4 and Delivery Delays
And I believe that each one of us that is on the list knows that. I believe our philosophy is we know there's at least a dozen OK radios out there, but we all picked Elecraft even though at this time due the shortages, there's a long wait. But we loyal and we know Elecraft is ahead of the game. Those that want to whine about Elecraft shipping times other radios, we politely asked to go somewhere else. Elecraft is not a "off the shelf radio .. with it you receive 2 Ceo's, and backing of a staff that watched and improves the radio each day. Both Flex and Elecraft have issues ... But if you are getting a TOL radio, you did your research, and made the call... This is my last post ... Re: [Elecraft] Another Unique QSO
Years ago when the KX3 just came out and I was one of the 1st 2 to have 1, I thought I would have some fun and hooked it up at our club station.a TH11DX at 120'. I was running a whopping 12 watts.(before upgrade). Then some beginner asked to talk to me thru Net Control. N6XX called me on KX3 #7 to my KX3 #24 and we dropped to 5 watts and carried on with perfect clarity. Then gave it back to Net Control. The impact was crazy... And then was the time. Many apologies for the missing Net Control. about 15 mins before it was to start, I kicked 80 meter on and had a mindblowing SWR.. went out and had a branch come down on it. [Elecraft] K4 Radio Update
Greetings... This to answer more than a few emails I have gotten. I just got off the phone with Eric WA6HHQ, and he explained that they made a few tweeks in some of the features that are in K4. They DID NOT do a major rewrite... But at the same time, there was an upgrade in the Linux operating system, and Eric, Wayne, and many engineers, field testers are beating up the code to make sure the improvements do not have adverse affects or hidden flaws before they resume shipping. I believe there will be a note, to all, in a week or so, giving a more detailed explanation. Re: [Elecraft] K4 Reports
Hi Terry Roughly 2 weeks ago I sent this out. "12 + hours ago, I was lippy toward Elecraft and ate my words 20 minutes later when I was told that my K4 was on a bench getting final upgrades and the thought that it should be out the week AFTER Thanksgiving.. Then next morning I woke up to 80 messages asking me for numbers... The DAY after Thanksgiving I had 10 people write to me and ask if the K4 was here and how it was." As with the unboxing of one of the 1st KX3's, when the K4 comes in, I will post pictures. [Elecraft] Elecraft K4 Kit Prices
It is my humble opinion that a good start to think about for the price to save money for a Elecraft K4 Kit is 10% below the cost of a full factory assembled unit. I've been in business for 40 years, and looking at many units, 10% below is just about right. You must realise that with the K4 and both the K3/K3S, the circuit boards were compartmentised to the extent that the biggest part seemed to be assembly of the unit inside the chassis, and testing. And the KX2/KX2 and the KXPA100 are in the same class..
