Given the termination of options and upgrades, I’m concerned that the same
thing will happen to K3/K3S service and repair. There are a lot of us here in
customer land that will need that capability well into the future, therefore
it’s loss or diminishment would adversely affect lots of folks.

Thanks to all who responded to my query. I have since connected the HM-10 XD to
the K3S and have found that the following settings work well for both the HC4X
and HC5X cartridges. MC FP H, mic menu setting, and Mic gain 30. I continue to
use the same transmit EQ settings as I used for the the
I recently purchased subject mic and will be connecting it to the K3S shortly.
Before I do that, I was wondering what mic settings to use? I currently have a
Heil PR-10 mic and am using the MIC FP HI menu setting and a mic gain of 20;
the PR-10 works fine, but I wanted to get a mic that I could
Hi to all:
I'm changing the topic back to my original question, which has not been
answered. Are there plans or thoughts to add a second RF input to the amp
similar to the two RF inputs on the Yaesu VL1000? I'm not interested in SO2R, I
am interested in feeding my K3 and K3S into a KPA1500,
Hi to all:
Wayne or Eric. Are there any plans or thoughts about adding a second RF input
to the amp, similar to what the Yaesu VL-1000 has?

Hi to all:
I had the strong suspicion based on what I heard an Elecraft rep say at last
years Dayton Hamvention that a 1500W linear was being worked on; so, I was not
surprised by Eric's request. My input is as follows: (1) 1500W+ output, key
down; (2) light weight (30 lbs or less); if the
Hi to all:
I apologize for the late response. I am using a K3S and Heil PR10 here and had
the same problem as was noted in the original post. I have found that the PR10
will only work correctly using the HP input in the Mic settings. I use a mic
gain setting of 12. I posted a note on this
Hi to all:
This subject has been posted before and I found the answer on the Elecraft
historical threads web page. In any event I tried the recommended solution but
have not been able to get the K3S to key the VL1000.
Specifically, I’m using a Band data one cable put together by Array
Hi to All:
I’m using a PR-10 mic to drive the K3S; I find that I need to set the mic gain
to 40+ to get sufficient output to push the ALC meter to nearly the top of its
range. My XYL, W1JX, with a softer voice, needs to run the mic gain to the
maximum setting (60) to achieve the same output.
Hi to all:
I posted the following on the MacloggerDX site and got a partial response, so
thought I would try here also.
I have been using a Macbook Pro running the El Captan operating system and the
MacloggerDX program for rig control and logging of a K3 for several years now
and all is
