Hi Jeff:
I am trying to find a basic document from UL and or CSA regarding the legal
requirement of
UL or CSA listing. I am thinking along the same lines as the European LVD.
Can anyone
offer insight as to whether this documentation exists?

Jeff,
This question, or others like it, comes up every so often because the
answer is not obvious in the literature. You did not state what standards
ARE applicable to your product.
For example, the scope of the UL/CSA standards for ITE is for mains
or battery powered equipment operating up to
Is anyone aware of any requirements anywhere in the world stating that a device
that is considered a transport mechanism must have a red kill switch or button
on the unit.
This question came from an associate of mine while talking with potential
customers in Scotland.

Hello, Group:
Does anyone have two second-hand HP 85044A
S-parameters' boxes for sale?
E7401A rules. I have been using one for 2 weeks now and it is loaded.
Inbuilt pre-amp (20dB), inbuilt tracking generator, and the coolest part is
the automatic ambient cancellation routine. You scan ambients; you scan EUT
+ ambients; boom, the subtraction takes place and you get you EUT list,
I have had good experiences using the HP 859X series portable EMC analyzers.
We have an 8593EM which can take measurements up to 18 GHz.

Hi group
Does anyone know of a reasonably priced tripod or stand that will
accommodate an EMCO 3141 antenna? The EMCO stand (6-TR) costs £1400!

Hi! Group:
We want to buy a spectrum analyzer or EMI receiver for our
pre-compliance/diagnostic EMI testing (both conducted and radiated). We want
something cheap and cover a wide frequency range. Do you guys have any
specific recommendations ? Recently I found one of HP's new product called
You can use the HP 141T (storage scope mainframe) and the analyzer plugins:
The 8552 IF section, 8553 (low frequency analyzer), 8554 (up to 1GHz),
and/or 8555 (way up there)
Some of these systems have been floating around for less than $1500, can't
get much cheaper if you want qantitative data.
Thanks and sorry everyone - I should have been more diligent before
firing off the question. Somehow I had not noticed this clause before
(EN60950 isn't my main standard), so I thought I was asking about
something that wasn't explicitly covered.
