Don, The building wiring code for Japan is JESC E0005 (2000) published by the Japan Electrotechnical Standards and Codes Committee. Regulations concerning plugs are the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (ministerial ordinance No 2). Plugs are defined by Japanese Industrial Standards

Hi, Just as a reminder - when quoting long http addresses, use a pair of delimiter braces, http://link , around the ends of the link so that the whole link is picked up by your browser. Most mail programs wrap long lines and the quoted link will be truncated without the braces.

Scott There is no requirement for UK plugs to be moulded on, a screwed together plug is perfectly acceptable. Also note that The Plugs and Sockets etc (Safety) Regulations 1994 require plugs to be fitted only to household appliances, professional gear is not affected. A link to the DTI is here:
