Hi Ken, This probably won't help a lot, but the small company was a father and sons company. The father was Tony Ciarcio or something close to that. I'm totally blanking on the company name. Maybe another list member has better memory than I! Brent DeWitt _ From:

EMI test facility construction - Colorado area, maybe others

Incandescent light bulbs are only non-linear in that they are a lower resistance cold than hot, and draw an inrush current. But at any given temp, they are a purely resistive load. Saturation of the EMI filter means the inductors of course. The filters should have a current rating that you could

HI Ken, point well taken. One could arge that light bulbs are nonlinear too... and waterheaters at 18 kHz That asside, the labs is wired directly to the building incoming power, 500 volts at 100 amps. I'm more concerned the facility filters are not saturating under the high current load,

Derek, MIL-STD-461 requires that the power source be loaded resistively at the same rms level as the test sample loads it, to perform an ambient. I realize that 600 60 Watt light bulbs mounted on a couple 4x8 sheets of plywood isn't a palatable approach, but it is the reason for this that

One more thing for Case 3 - the values from the tables are for Basic Insulation. If you have hazardous AC output from the inverter requiring Double or Reinforced Insulation (i.e to SELV), then the values from the tables should be doubled. Scott Aldous Compliance Engineer Advanced Energy Tel:

HI Ed, yep, I terminated the LISN port when I did the CP test. At 101 Amps per phase, I cant resistively load the network. I was thinking that a network amalyser looking into the LISN port ( power disconnect outside the room ) would perhaps show something impedance wise. Facility power

Derek: Did you also replace the current probe with a 50-ohm termination, and do you then not get the hump? Next, did you try using a resistive load on the LISN's and see if the hump is there? Finally, do you still see a hump with just a resistive load and no LISN's? I would suspect either a

Regarding Case 1 (and any other where voltages do not exceed the limits in 6.3.1/6.3.2), it may be simpler to apply the fault testing in 9.1a)2) rather than apply Basic Insulation. Of course a wrinkle would be if your unlimited low voltage circuit is accessible, requiring you to deal with the fire

HI All, I'm watching a MIL STD 461 test on a stand alone EUT. Between 10 kHz and 20 kHz we have developed a Hump in out profile that wasn't present at our last test lab. The hump is identical looking with a current probe on the input to and from the LISN, so I believe I'm seeing no isolation
