Hi all,
We purchased EN 50131-5-3: 2005 + A1: 2008 as we couldn't find the amendment
separately
Can anyone please point me in the direction of the amended parts of the
standard.
The only part that stands out is the added interpretation sheet.
Thanks in advance
Regards,
David Shidlowsky |
Hi David,
The changes in 2008 were to Annex E and F
Annex E had a correction to the calculation for the Immunity to message
substitution formula
Annex F had a correction to the 1st diagram replacing the value in
abscissa 10 s with 5 s.
The interpretation sheet IS1 was issued separately
I am looking for an equipment to measure leakage current for medical
devices according to IEC 60601:05.
I have difficulties to find one to measure leakage current for CF type
patient connections with the accuracy of ± 5 % required by IEC 60601, or
better (± 3,5 % as indicated in TR 62354).
My RCA XL-100 (26 years), my Sanyo VCR (14 years) and my satellite box (13
years) get used every day. Some consumer electronic equipment are
long-life.

AR Research makes this stuff, as do others.
Or you can build your own.

Hi Guys,
Can the ball drop test be conducted using impact hammer ?
I do not see any credible reason for not using the impact hammer.
Impact test using impact hammer delivers x amount of Joules energy upon impact
similar to the dropping of steel ball of certain size from certain height.
Typically the spring loaded impact hammer is 0.5 Joules, the 50mm steel sphere
is 5.0 Joules when doing the vertical or pendulum drop.

Hi Sudhakar,
Yes, but how would you plan to keep that impact hammer in calibration. Note
that the 50mm steel ball essentially maintains its calibration unless it is
damaged.
I look forward to your reply.

Yes you can, just make sure it meets IK08 requirements in mass, size and is
calibrated. You can either purchase the IEC/EN 62262 reference document for
impact testing or use this link for guidance, the data is accurate
