Many years ago, a local test lab in Newburyport, MA used decommissioned
hydroelectric
generators driven by electric motors for their AC mains testing.
For 50 Hz they dropped huge resistors (carbon piles???) in the river and
just loaded
down the motor-generators. The boiling river water,
I took a similar tack, except for 5, 6, and 7, and he

DANGER indicates an imminently hazardous situation which,
if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. This signal
word is to be limited to the most extreme situations.
I found quite a lot of references via Google, to 'Hertzian
Vibration.' A lot of them made reference to contact
closure types of equipment. By inference, it seems to
be used in relation to low-frequency mechanical vibration.
Still sounds like a stupid bit of pseudo jargon to me.

Hi;
A couple weeks ago I politely criticized the HP/Agilent E7401A
spectrum analyzer. Okay, so I called it a piece of garbage.
That was based on two basic facts:
1) It was ridiculously user-unfriendly.
2) Customer support was friendly but unhelpful.
I now wish to publicly apologize. Two nice

That's okay, John. I replied privately to Gunter, and I called
the E7401A an absolute piece of trash. So it evens out

I also recommend the Schaffner charts. They are just packed
with good reference information!
Put them up next to your screen room, situated so when you
have a visitor, the charts would be visible over his shoulder.

Is there a European standard for Li-ion batteries?
Is there a battery directive? If yes, what standards is applicable?

As far as I know, the relevant EU directive is 98/101/EC, 22 December

Heh! Used a CRT focussing coil with a Lionel train transformer, actually.
By quickly making and breaking the connections I could time the
current so it would accelerate the ball bearing smartly.
And where did we get our CRT focusing coil? Hmm?
