Bob,
Do you know anything about the 915MHz passive tags?

The RFID tags (active tags) are subject to the RTTE Directive and the
following standards for 13.56 MHz tags:
300 330-1 (General)
300 330-2 (Radio)
301 489-1 (EMC)

Alex, in the US there appears to be a hole in the testing scheme for
aftermarket automotive products. If the product is to be installed on the
original equipment (i.e., the car) then there are very stringent automotive
industry standards that must be complied with both in the US and in Europe.

Or a previous report already covers the emissions. Test reports should
reference each other but they do not necessarily have to. You will not know
the situation until you talk to your client's competitor.

Under the proposal for the new EMC Directive, it is my understanding that
"ready-made connecting devices" (not sold with the equipment) will require
CE marking. Has there been any thought, proposal, procedure, etc. as to how
they are to be tested for compliance and to what standard? For the most

There may be something in the fact that 61000-6-4 is an IEC generated
document and the 50081-2 is a CENELEC generated document that never had an

I believe that it has to do with the cable coatings. I believe that the
cable jackets have to have a higher temp rating and that if they burn, they
cannot give off toxic fumes as these would be carried along an air plenum
type ceiling or floor.
