I saw a headline that said
Bill Gates thinks Microsoft should not be Broken Up.
which about covers
The full text of his written testimony is available, 1.1M pdf.. 164
pages I think.. I downloaded a copy yesterday. Most of what he said
was that Microsoft is responsible for the rapid growth of the computer
industry, and forcing Microsoft to release there API and to make windows

I've got one of those mice with a USB end (and USB 2 PS2 connector).
Anyone know what's involved in getting a USB mouse working on Linux?
(Kernel 2.4.18)

Mandrake 8.2 picks it up automagically.

It does depend somewhat on your motherboard, but support is good for
most up-to-spec controllers afaik... I just wish those USB-PS2
adaptors worked for USB keyboards.

Is anyone else experiencing massive Syn flooding? we now have the FBI involved
as the culprits are using ip spoofing to mask themselves. As a side note,
tcp_syncookies are great, as long as your overall server load for web traffic
is small, but when your web traffic load is high to begin with,
Set your firewall defaults to drop the flood packets on the floor and not
return anything. :)

Try:
gpm -m /dev/mouse -t imps2
Where /dev/mouse is pointing to:
mouse - input/mouse0
My USB stuff, along with everything else I possibly can, is compiled as modules.
That way I compile the kernel once. These modules are loaded:
#lsmod
evdev 4192 0 (unused)
mousedev
that would be great, but the tcp connections that are valid need to be in the
SYN_RECV state for a short period of time, and the attackers keep changing
the 10-20 spoofed ip''s they are using, so we cant block specific ip's
either. We are a web host and must actually respond to the valid
Details, details, details. Are the attacks coming from the same
domain???

I want to get a Linux workstation with a printer and cd burner up and
running -all my hardware is supported - I have Mandrake 6.2 on it now.
I want to know how to get the Philips CDRW 800 to burn CDs with a graphical
frontend. The Apollo 2250 is my printer and how do I set that up during the
No way to tell where they are coming from. there are currently between 10 and
30 different spoofed ips, including some that when nslookup'd and whois'd
indicate that we are being Syn Flooded from the 95th floor of the WTC. It
seems that someone has found a way to connect Ethernet to the

I wonder, do they think they are attacking one of the sites, or
you directly? Do you by chance notice DNS requests from any of the
attackers?
Just a thought.

Assuming the device is set up correctly by the kernel, you can usually
point your XF86Config file at
According to ATG and the FBI this is not just an attack against us, but they
did single out all the ips in our 64.42.86 subnet that have port 80 open ~10
and are hitting them fairly evenly.

SYN Flood update:
After setting MAX_CONNECTIONS from 128 to 1024 and having tcp_syncookies
enabled, we are at a fairly useable level of service with only 350 or so
connections being hit with SYN Flooding. Not a perfect solution, but a
useable one until the attacks are stopped. Perhaps security
I got the Old CUPS-O-Matic PPD files (for XPP 1.0 or earlier and KDE 2.x)
for Kword printing.
It looks like the modifed ghostscript drivers come with Redhat 7.2 and
Mandrake 8.2 as well as other leading distributions.
Where does the ppd file go?

How can I make sure that after I install Mandrake 8.2 that I can get my
system set up again for kmail and konqueror.
I don't trust that an upgrade will work so how do I print out my konqueror
bookmarks and my kmail address book, folders, and filters?
