One simple way, without preprocessing, is to put your file up on a local
webserver (say, apache on your own machine, linux or otherwise) and then
use a utility like AvantGo (with a custom channel definition for your
own machine, if possible, or even a small free-hosting service) to load
up your

I'm asking for a friend, and so far I don't know too much about eBooks.
I thought thew were like PDFs and Adobe had something to do with them?
What's the Open Ebook and all the other 'ebook' formats mentioned (zTXT,
Rich Reader, TealDoc, Plucker, etc)?
What's an ebook? Are they just for PDAs?
Your friend probably wants to use a format that default PalmOS devices
can read! I assume there are some commercial preparation services
designed for people in this friend's situation, who help professionally
prepare the document for sale. Of course if this is a
low-budget/shoestring operation,
I intended to send to individuals when I forwarded.

The difference, as I understand it, is that the good media players
allow plug-in protocols -- I believe that even Windows Media Player will
play Ogg Vorbis files, if the codec is installed. If the proper codec
is installed, on windows, just about any media player can use it, iirc.
