Um... No. Wow, that was simple, wasn't it? It looks good now. Thanks Ed! Did you remove the replica on the 5.5 server before shutting it down? I have two other Exchange 2000 servers in the site. I followed the instuctions and made sure there was a replica of the Free/Busy folder (among others) on one of the Exchange 2000 servers. When I shut down all of the services on the old 5.5 server for a test, I start to see errors on the server without the replica. Event ID 8207 Souce MSExchangeFBPublish. It inidicated it had a problem getting the data from the old 5.5 server. I decided to replicate the folder to that server as well (however, I think that you should only have one version of the folder in a site - is this correct?). I let it replicate over the weekend, and then this morning I tried it again. I am seeing the same error, but this time it indicates it is having a problem with the public store on itself. If I turn the services on the old server back on, the error goes away. At no point have I had any reported client issues when the error is logged. I looked at technet article 824282, but I don't think it applies, as the problem goes away when the orignal server is on. I think I have some sort of replication issue, but I am not sure what it is. Checking the public folder on the Exchange 2000 server, it says the Schedule+ Free Busy folder has replicated. Has anyone else seen this? If anyone has a pointer for me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! RE: Free/Busy issue removing last 5.5 server in the site
I've run into this problem before, and it's far better if you can do this. It's uglier when the server gets blown away before the replicas are removed because Outlook hangs on to the public folder server. If you get to that point, the easiest way to fix the problem is to refresh the Outlook profile. RE: Free/Busy Problems
Outlook populates free/busy data into a shared public folder. Therefore, users won't have any free/busy data until they've logged into their mailboxes using Outlook (or OWA). Search TechNet with the exact wording of the message you're getting, because there are very well may be things you have to do to fix the problem. RE: Free/Busy confusion
I just got something through my thick head - there is a compelling reason to leave the LegacyExchangeDN the same when moving a user's mailbox: - when a mailbox is moved, there is no need to update the Outlook profile. Outlook automatically updates its own profile and finds the new server. That's a great feature of Outlook/Exchange that we have been enjoying all along. - Outlook profile remembers the mailbox's LegacyExchangeDN. If the LegacyExchangeDN is changed, Outlook will not be able to automatically find the moved mailbox and someone will have to manually reconfigure the profile. -Original Message- From: Tony Hlabse [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, January 06, 2003 12:16 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Re: Free/Busy confusion That is the other way (preferred way). RE: Free/Busy confusion
I have partially answered my own question - it has to do with the LegacyExchangeDN. I guess when a user gets moved from one server to another his/her LegacyExchangeDN does not change, even if the servers belong to different administrative groups. And it seems that LegacyExchangeDN determines which Free/Busy system folder that user is going to use. RE: Free/Busy confusion
It is probably not the intended design. Rather, it is probably a bit of deferred work that has been assigned a fairly low priority. There are a lot of ugly compromises in any complex product. -Original Message- From: Andrey Fyodorov [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, January 03, 2003 3:01 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Free/Busy confusion I have partially answered my own question - it has to do with the LegacyExchangeDN. Perhaps MS should have designed the move mailbox procedure in such a way that it would update the LegacyExchangeDN if mailbox is moved from one Admin Group to another. -Original Message- From: Dupler, Craig [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, January 03, 2003 6:04 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Free/Busy confusion It is probably not the intended design. RE: Free/Busy Question
I believe Harolds' original question was, once the manager stops publishing his free/busy info, will the existing info that has already been published still be on the server? I don't think he was asking anything about his calendar data being deleted. Yes, I agree it does sound like the manager wants his previously published free/busy info to be deleted, which is probably why Harold is asking the question in the first place. RE: Free/Busy Question
Well, I don't know - but it won't hurt anything to set it to 0 months. As Jim pointed out, it won't wipe out any of his calendar information. You can then see for yourself and answer the question. You know - run a test and see what happens. RE: Free/Busy
Is his mailbox over it's limit? Or not allowed to Send and Receive? I had a problem with a user like the one you are describing. I bascially had an account they were trying to access their mailbox limit and send and receive limit set to 0. After I reinstated it, it worked fine. Just throwing out something off the top of my head. ___ John Bowles Exchange Administrator Enterprise Support Engineering Celera Genomics [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: Callan, Chris [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, July 10, 2002 11:17 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Free/Busy I have one user that is sending out meeting request, then when they are accepted his return message tells him that the meeting doesn't exist. Hi Ed, Yes. PFs are there and replication is now in place. Outlook clients no longer giving the error (below) but event logs still show the 8277 error, once a day at 2:00am Now getting an 8275 as well but only on second server (MY SERVER2); 'SchedulePlusFreeBusy folder could not be opened for suplicate message deletion on virtual machine MY-SERVER2. Re: Free/Busy Schedule not working
I thought affinity is only used when you're not replicating the folders to the remote sites ? In our case, 3 sites are replicating Free/Busy info to each other's site (each site is in a sep. domain/all domains have 2 way trusts est./site connectors between each site/messaging and dir. sync is working fine). We've got the same problem in that sites B C can view each other's Free/busy but not site A's, while site A can view Free/busy of all 3 sites. What's odd is that while server A's Free/Busy Replicas tab has both sites B C chosen under Replicate Folders to, it doesn't list any servers under the Folder Replication Status tab. When viewing the Instances tab in both B C's PubIS properties, they both list site A's Free/Busybut, when you view the Public Folder Resources tab it lists 0 items and 0K for site A's Free/Busy, as if it's creating a placeholder, but never populating it with the data. After upping the logging level for the Pub. I've noticed no outgoing messages from site A to site B or C, while it site A receives incoming messages regularly from them. As a test, we created a new pub. folder on site A and replicated that to site B C successfully and that did trigger MSExchangePubReplication Outgoing logsbut still no Site A Free/busy info replicated to sites B C. Have also tried removing the replica instances in site B C...waited until they cleared and dir. was sync'd, then retried replicating, again to no avail. We publish 12 months and update every 15 minutes and never really noticed any difference after changing. ymmv. -Original Message- From: Ferneyhough, Dan [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, December 05, 2001 12:23 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Free/Busy Performance We are considering implementing implementing a policy to globally increase the amount of Calendar free/busy data published by Outlook. The problem is that we require our resources (meeting rooms etc) and those who directly book them to have this setting at 12 months so our only option for a global setting would be 12 months as well. I have read articles in the past indicating that boosting the Publish Free/Busy Info setting too high may have perforance impacts but I am not sure how real this potential is. Has anyone else globally increased this number to 10 or 12 months and seen a real performance hit or are the warnings in the articles purely based on a theoretical performance impact? RE: Free/Busy Schedule not working
You only see the MSMail and CCMail connectors in your site because these options were not unchecked when installing an (or any) exchange server in your site - that is also why you have that Schedule+ free/busy connector only in your site. It won't hurt anything to just leave them there. As for free/busy in the system folders: did you connect to the other site, expand system folders, open properties to their site's free/busy folder and check that your server is in their replicas tab? If it's not there, add it. Do the same for any other site. We have also setup free/busy connectors at system folders. I am able to see the free/busy schedules of other sites but they are not able to see ours. I have looked at the properties of the connector and in the Replica tab I see us and other sites listed, however on the Folder Replication Status there is nothing. I have changed the Replication Schedule from Always to Selected times, and vice versa but still nothing works. On the other two sites the MS Mail Connector and CC mail do not exist. On our site they do however we do not use them but then in our case in the Server Recepients we have Microsoft Schedule+Free/Bust Connector which does not exists in the other two sites. Could having the MS Mail and CC mail be the problem and having not configured the Microsoft Schedule+Free/Bust Connector ? Or is there something else wrong?
