But, don't be sorry. There are many European rock music fans that don't
quite get country music. Many don't realize the genesis of rock - it's
just uptempo folk and country music, with rockabilly and blues
Part of the history of pop music was the ASCAP strike and the rise of
BMI. Since radio stations had nothing to play during the strike they
went out and found unsigned country and folk artists and formed BMI.
Some of the acts weren't that good so gave country music a bad name.
