Re: [Felvtalk] cat litter
We've had it here (on the west coast) for a while, but (and I'd have to check again) the price compared to all the rest is quite higher. It's made from corn and was using it when I had kittens that were being potty trained (if they ate it it wouldn't harm them) I use Swheat scoop now that is more cost effective I find if I mix it with other kitty litter it doesn't turn into cement. In any case I scoop a couple times a day since I have 6 cats (also why I can't afford World's Best... also I can't stand the smell of it... it's kind of yeasty and since I don't tolerate gluten it actually makes me a bit sick. I want one of these so bad! It uses safflower seeds for litter. Completely biodegradable and you CAN get the safflower seeds from Walmart. Hi, I like World's Best but it is cost-prohibitive for me. I have been using Dumor brand "Starter/Grower Chick Feed" from the Tractor Supply (plain corn, no antibiotics added). Re: [Felvtalk] cat litter
funny, the lack of dust was one of the good points i found. i just started using it (on 2nd bag) and i have noticed that when i pour it out of the bag, i see no dust and since i am allergic to most dusty things, i would think that it would hit me right away since i am standing right above it. maybe they have improved the formula since you used it. i have found that it does not track as much as clay, is about the same particle size as clay and all 8 of my girls and boys like it. it clumps so well that even Dee can't break them up (she is a super coverer, even goes in after others and covers for them). it lasts longer and is lighter to carry the bags in from the car and with 8 cats, i have 8 boxes so i go thru a fair amount of litter. i haven't noticed any of my pride sneezing or coughing so far. i know corn is an allergen for cats, that is why i switched from Hill's Science Diet - several of my babies were always vomiting after eating. i switched to Blue Buffalo and no problems since then. will keep a closer eye on things, but i hope there are no problems because i surely don't want to go back to clay. i can't compost it like World's Best. i keep a seperate compost pile for my litter. used to use Fresh Results from 8 in One, but Walmart stopped carrying it because it did not sell fast enough. Pets Mart carries identical formula from 8 in One, under a different name, and charges $13.00 per bag as opposed to $6.00 per bag of Fresh Results. got to sign off now so can get some sleep. cats found a mouse in house last night and kepp me up chasing it all over. Re: [Felvtalk] Murphy-PCV is up to 27-28 but has a fever
I had an FeLV cat with unexplained fever of 106.7. He had to be at emergency all weekend on IV drugs & fluids. It did not come back, but he started having more & more problems after that. His gums are looking nice and pink-his PCV in the office is up to 27-28 from 2 weeks ago. His temp was 104.7 today when it had been 101.6 the last 2 visits-7/23 and 7/29. That explains his dry, warm nose. They gave him a shot of PennG and I will repeat in 5 days at home and to keep him on all the meds like we have been the last 2 weeks. He's been on Doxycycline for 2 weeks. He is down only 2.5 oz but overall has gone from 11 lb 15 oz in November to 10 lb 2 oz today. He looks bright, but is sleeping a lot. I don't get it-what is causing the fever??? ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
