Ask Karineh what three sanctuaries offered to take her Felv+ kitty.   One had a
fee of $200, which seems very doable via Chipin.

I would have her retested. If she is 15 years old, she has probably licked it
ad it is in dormancy/remission. My Annie is 4 and I am planning on retesting
her, but she shows no signs of illness. My vet says just keep her and see what
happens. He tested her when I first got her and Also Nitnoy whom I have just
had 1 year. The lve with 5 negatives and all are doing well.

Melinda, Welcome home! Just in time for cold weather. Home all goes well with
your arrival and you find good vet to continue VooDoo's treatments. I
survived lyphoma myself. After being told I would die in 3 months, I am still
here 8 years later. I think a lot of their survival depends on your love and
care for them. They sense this. Thank you for giving them all they need to
get this far.

Hello all,

OK, it is official.  My family will be arriving in Charleston, SC in June.  I
can't wait to be back in the good, ole USA!  However, I will miss my Japanese
vet so much.  I am hoping someone on here knows of a good vet there.  I've been
given some links to look for a vet, but personal recommendations are always
welcome:)

Also, I saw that there is a no kill cat shelter close by and I am anxious to
check it out.  For all of you in rescue, you have motivated me to be a part of
the solution.  I hope the shelter there is a positive place and I can be a
part.  I have tried to make a difference here in a very small community with
few strays/abandoned kitties, but am unable to have a permanent impact.

Somehow, I have been lucky enough to be blessed with two FeLV kitties with
lymphoma.  Both were found as stray kittens here in Japan and both seem to be
fighting the disease quite well.  Fuji  (2.5years) will be ending her
treatments here and hopefully stay in remission.  VooDoo (1.5years)  has only
had three treatments and will need to continue once we get home.  I am a member
of a yahoo group that deals with lymphoma and the success/health of these
babies seems to be quite unusual.  Makes me wonder if they really have lymphoma!

For those new members, I know that my kitties are somewhat anomalies.  However,
I hope that it gives you comfort knowing that there is always hope!

Thanks for all the support during our time here in Japan.

Thank you Tina for giving these 4 babies a life. While these baby's lives are
short, they really do touch us & teach us a lot. 2 of my 1st FeLV babies were
"golden girls", too - Hope & Miss Gussie. They too died within a short time of
each other, but they taught me a lot about this virus & made me try to spread
the word that these babies can have a life, not matter how short, & deserve to
be given that opportunity.

Thank you again for taking care of these babies!
Do you know what happened to the mother? She may very well have the virus & is
she is still not fixed or is outside, she may be spreading it...

I am new to this group, but I did want to send you my condolences. Rest in
peace precious Myles.

I am Tina. I live in Pa. We had gotten a litter of
four female kittens from a family whos add we responded to in the newspaper six
months ago. Their kittens needed a home and my mom who is very ill and
lives with us needed company. So, knowing that we didn't have the heart to
seperate those kittems. We took them all. We homeschool our four kiddos so
these fur babies quickly became all of our babies and God bonded our hearts to
theirs.

We had no idea that they were suffering from
feline leukemia when we got them because they looked so healthy.

Needless to say... six months later...

We laid Ollie to rest four days before Christmas
and we just laid Leo to rest two days after New Years. Ollie and Leo were
golden
in color and we called them "the golden girls" they were always together
and their siblings (who are still with us) are also always together. After
Ollies death Leo just was not the same. She became very depressed and just
couldn't seem to get over the fact that her sister was gone.

We laid Ollie to rest and we put in
certain items that she loved and parts of things from us.

It is very cold here that when Leo passed just
days later my husband offered to dig up Ollie lay Leo and her things that
we had for her in the box with Ollie... so that "the golden girls"
would always be together.

That is what we did...

We are Christians... we know that in the big
picture it really wouldn't have mattered if their
bodies were laid to rest in the same box or not, but to us it
meant the world to know that "the golden girls" were together forever even in
death.

We had a beautiful service for them in our back
yard. First, Ollie then days later Leo with Ollie.

We have your site to thank for the information
on feline leukemia and the foods and vitamins that help to sustain
life. We will forever be thankful for what these precious kittens have taught
us
about this horrible sickness. What a true blessing they have been. They taught
us strength, love, and commitment. They taught us that love is an "action"
word. Our hearts will forever be bonded with these babies.

Whoopie and Jewels our other two calico fur babies
(from that sibling group) are still going strong. We remain ever thankful for
their continued health.

I just had to stop in and say... I am sorry to hear
of your loss... and thank you for the information you share... it truly does
touch lives...

Tina, Welcome to the group. It is very sad to hear about your two
precious kittens who died so young. Their mother was probably FelV
positive, and small kittens have very little resistance to this awful
virus. Hopefully the other two kittens will have stong enough immune
systems be okay. Have you had them tested to see if they are positive
or negative?
