It's kind of late, so don't be discouraged, I am sure you will get PLENTY
of answers/suggestions tomorrow.
I also am a huge believer in holistic/homeopathic medicine. My allopathic

I am not familiar with exactly the condition your baby
I'm so sorry you and Frodo are going through this. I understand your
fear and frustration. I don't know enough about his condition to advise
you about what to expect from treatment. It seems to me the question
you posed to the group is what you should ask the vet. What do they
Aww Julie sweetheart, I'm so sorry. I know your heart is breaking.
It's nice that Eduardo came home to be with you during such a hard
time. I feel like I've gotten to know your Mandy and Wink from your
posts, how blessed you are to have found each other. This time in our

What is this kitten eating? Getting them off of dry and onto one type
of protein usually helps. Probiotics are a good idea too. Switching my
IBD kitty, Gypsy, to a raw diet pulled her from death's door. Gypsy was
stealing Gracie's food when I was trying anything I could think of to
I am so sorry for the pain and confusion you must be having. I am using
both colostrum (in the form of Just Born, a mother's milk substitute for new
born kittens) and transfer factor with my FeLV + cat. I mix the transfer
factor in the Just Born and she loves it. My alternative vet put my

It is FIV and not FeLV but still this place is supposed to be a humane society
and they would treat FeLV in the same way. The message came from a lady on the
FIV group and it really did sicken me. If anyone wants to post her with
This poor lady. Everyone has options. Just because a vet tells you
something does not make it so. I can think of only a couple of times you
have to surrender an animal and those times involve vicious animals
involved in attacks on people.

Three suggestions: Report the matter to the state vet association--not the
local one. Contact the Texas version of the Attorney General's Office
Comsumer Protection Division (cats are property in most places-ok we
know better but the law doesn't). Find out who, in the local media, is a
Right, it's a hard lesson. But I can understand - people do put so
much - too much - trust in vets and organizations that provide care
for pets. It's too bad we can't hold vets/orgs. accountable in some
way. Very sad.

Tell her to contact her local media and see if they are interested
in doing a story. Organizations that want to play GOD need to be
reported, especially ones that received most of their funding from
As far as I know the HSUS does not recommend automatically euthaization
The way I read it was that she was told she HAD to give the cat up, not that
they recommended it. If I read it correctly the HSUS needs to be notified
also. Any way you look at it, the cat got a bum deal and so did her person.

I know my vets were relieved when I decided not to kill Dixie Louise because
she tested positive. She was a throw away without a name when I took her in
to be spayed. They tested her because I was going to take her to my farm
when the house is finished and, unfortunately, she tested positive.
That is so cool!
