Re: [Felvtalk] Please light a candle for Taj

2010-06-24 Thread Lorrie
Sara, How sad to lose Taj at such a young age. Thank you for making
his short life so happy, and I agree that heroic measures under the
circumstances would have been unkind to Taj. As my vet told me last
week when I had my CRF cat euthanized "Heroic measures are often more
for the owner than the cat".

I hope your Rani lives a much longer life. They are both so
fortunate to have you.

So sorry Sara. He must have been a handsome Bengal boy. The one I just lost
became sick suddenly, too. My heart is with you.

Dear friends,

I had hoped to avoid writing this note for a very, very long time.  Our
blue-eyed bengal boy Taj is napping at the bridge this afternoon.  He developed
breathing trouble over the weekend, and today we discovered that he had a
massive tumor pressing into his lungs.  Heroic measures to extend his life
would have been selfish, and given the underlying FeLV+ diagnosis, unlikely to
have improved his quality of life.  He was a brave boy, hiding his discomfort
from us for so long.   He lived a very short life, only 14 months, but he was
loved and pampered in the extreme.

His sister, Rani, shares the FeLV+ diagnosis.  We pray she will be with us much
longer.  My thanks to each of you for your fabulous advice and willingness to
share what you have learned along this difficult and often sad path.

Sara, I was saddened to read that Taj has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He had
your love and has left you with some wonderful memories. He fought a valiant
battle and is now chasing butterflies in those green meadows.
I'll light a candle for him tonight.
