thank you, Wendy for the reply. My confusion is over when to do the IFA. Wouldm you believe that one of the vets i use (the better one) does not even have it listed in her price list? She is pretty positive about FeLV in general though, and will NOT put down a healthy FeLV cat. I just want th

Hey Dede, I second the motion that you wait several months to get Ki tested. Just keep him stress free and feed him a great diet, and he may surprise you by testing negative. I think the numbers say there's a 40% chance. A lot of us here mix our neg's and pos's, but most of us unknowingly expos

Hi Dede,   I don't think it is the age of the cat, I think it is the time between tests.  Giving them a long time between tests (my vet recommends 6 months) allows them to throw off the virus or sequester it if they are going to.    Even if Ki is positive, it isn't a death sentence, like some wou

First I would find a supportive vet.   Seriously, that's the first order of business.   If he was tested twice within a month, that is really too soon to tell anything.  It is recommended to wait 6 months between tests, I believe.  That gives them time to throw off the virus if they are going to.

I was directed to this list. I am driving my vets nuts with questions, and they are a bit less than supportive. We do rescue work. Last mo. one of our members helped a lady with a mess of cats. There was FeLV in some of the older cats. She pulled out a mom cat and 4 kittens. All tested negati
